Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here, but I am fairly confident that beard frequencies occur by a percentage of the whole. In other words, a frequency of 10 would be 10% only if all the frequencies together added up to 100. If they all added up to 200, 10 would mean 10/200, which equals 5%.

So, for your scenario, if you want the 23 beards to occur at an equal rate, and have 50% with no beards, you could set each beard to 10 and no beard to 230 (or all beards to 5 and no beard to 115, etc.).

This is correct.

Although, if you want them all to have the same frequency, you might as well put in 1 for the twenty three you like and then just 23 for no beard -- it's the same thing.

I haven't created any beards in a while so I'd have to get back into it. I still have the original files thankfully after a hard drive croaked (I just checked). The issue is that the beard graphics are somewhat distorted when FaceGen pastes them on the 3D model. That, and not all faces are the same shape. So it's an iterative process of drawing the beard shape and then seeing how it gets distorted on a particular face and then going back to modify it and try again. Then you have to transfer that beard shape to all 5 hair colors. When I was in the groove, it probably took about 20 minutes per beard. Probably double that for something detailed like this.

If I get back into making beards, I'll keep this guy in mind (although it's going to be tough to keep him out of my nightmares).

Bobble,

I don't use a lot of mods... but this Facial Hair mod is one of my favorites. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the increased uniqueness in player looks I get. It adds so much to the immersion of my leagues and the attachment I can develop toward the fictional players.

For whatever reason the game is telling me that I disabled beards across the game... I definitely didn't do this. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Hair is not turned on automatically. Go to League Setup- Player Pictures & AI Options. Scroll down a bit til you see the hair and enter values for each. I hit Enter when done then save ( not sure if that needs to be done) 1 usually is enough I never do more then 2 for the main ones. Good to go.

I don't think he's looking for a how-to. I've had what he's describing happen to me before, and I never could figure out the cause. Randomly, my league would revert to all-zeroes across the board in the facial hair section, and tell me that facial hair was disabled if I went to change a specific player's beard.

It's happened three or four times over the years (in 12, 13, and 14), and I never figured out why. Unfortunately, you're just going to have to re-input the amounts in the facial hair section, and that will automatically re-enable beards.

I thought it was off by default when you add Bobble's? Then you change the values and your fine and as you know I complained about the fact it resets to 0 when you have an existing league and you start a new league. Thankfully so far in 14 I have not had to redo all my guys with facial hair. It kept their facial hair and not all values have been reset to 0, just some.

All of that is correct. But I have had it revert everything to zeroes in leagues where I'd already set up the beards and had them running for months in-game. No idea why, and it's a very rare occurrence, but it's happened more than once.

I migth have had that happen on 11 or 12 but not 13 that i know of and since I have only had 14 for a week it has yet to happen on there to my knowledge. There are several mods that need to be part of the Game.

Thought that I understood this. I have twenty beards that total 155 (mix of 10's and 5's). If I want there to be 50% beards in the league, would I have no beards at 310? (155/.50=310) Math isn't my strength

Not quite. If I'm reading your ambitions correctly, the No Beard total would simply match the total of all your other 'beards.' Therefore, if all the other beards total 155, then have the No Beards at 155 as well, then it comprises 50% of your total.

Not quite. If you want 50% of the league to have no beards, then the number for No Beard should be 50% of the total. Your total in the scenario above would be 465 (155+310), and therefore beards would occur at a 33% frequency (155/465 = 0.333333).

To figure out the frequency of any single beard option, you divide the number of that beard by the total of all the numbers. So, to get No Beard to occur at a 50% frequency in your game, you're going to want the number to be 155 (155+155 = 310; 155/310 = 0.5).
