And to follow on, is that setting's default something we can set by league? For example, I have some leagues in my universe that are typical modern MLB, where starters almost never relieve. But I also have obscure indy leagues where an ace starter might pitch relief whenever he's rested and ready.

I'd hate to have to go through each and every team in 40 leagues to set this up right.

The AI Manager would be setting this up though, along with his pitching staff. Yes? Or are you managing every team in all 40 leagues?

I do wonder if league settings such as reliever/closer usage, endurance, etc affect the way the AI manager uses this?

This enhancement is worth the price of the game for me. Awesome!

I am curious as to what else is under that "Usage Option" dropdown...

Looks like we have:

7th or later
8th or later
9th or later
Normal Usage
Use more often
vs Left-handed
vs Right-handed

Is there a "use less often" slot?

Is that all of them then? No 6th or Later or 5th or Later?

Sorry for the nitpicky questions. Just trying to get a sense of all the options available.

"6th or later" is a choice for setup pitchers.

These are the little adjustments that make games like this awesome. A very useful and fun feature...gives you a complete control feeling.

Thanks for the update, this looks like a great addition.

If I pre-order twice can I start playing now?

that would be great, I have plenty of space at 2560X1440 and would love to see stats for hitters just like it shows for pitchers.

Good point. The first relief specialists didn't start to appear until the 1920s, so all starters prior to the 1930s would have been expected to relieve on occasion. I'm very happy to see this as an option, but it kinda' defeats the purpose if the AI never chooses it.

For some reason I had it in my head that with OOTP14 we could go to a stopper/fireman system like was used in the 70s and 80s. Is the option in the settings somewhere and I just don't see it? I was looking forward to this.

Yes, it's there. The stopper is a role that becomes available if the use of closer is set to "less" or lower in the league strategy.

The "allow SP to be used in relief" option is used by the AI automatically in historical leagues prior to the year 1930. It is a good idea for a patch to make this configurable in the league setup, though.

That's fantastic! It may not seem like a lot, but this is a big deal for me. I'm looking forward to version 14.
