What does error "502 Bad Gateway" mean when you try to log out of OOTPB Forums?

I started to get his message the last few days when I try to log out of OOTPB Forums:

"502 Bad Gateway"

Am I the only one with the problem?

What does it means?

And is it anything to worry about?

Eugene, I don't think it means anything. The forum was hacked recently and they migrated to a new server. There may be some bad links around which give strange errors.

Now that you mention it I don't even know how to log out. I just close the tab or close Firefox. That means I don't have to log in when I return.

Since the migration things seem to be working well. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Yes, I saw it, and oddly enough it may be fixed as we type. Try it now. I cannot get it to show now and the logout screen appears normal.

EDIT: Oops. Spoke too soon:

This is what I get when I log out. Took me a while to find the Log Out link just below my name.

I appreciate all of your replies.

Thank you.

Hopefully, the forum moderator will get the OOTPB development team to check it out and see if it can be fixed.

I will just exit the forum without signing out.

This is still a problem... at least for me.

Looks like it isn't causing me any problems, so I have to just live with it.

Hope it's not a virus or anything that will damage my computer.

I'm pretty sure, from my limited knowledge of web design, that it's a faulty link to the sign-out page that Rich shows in his post. That can happen when moving a set of software (like a community forum) to a new server. It's just a bad destination like "Error 404 - Page Not Found" messages.

It also doesn't hurt to click "Remember Me?" when you log in and don't log out when you leave. That saves you from having to log in again the next time you come to the forum. The only time I log out these days is when I want to make sure any new posts from the time I leave the page are accurately shown as unread.

Thanks for the explanation.

Much appreciated.

Getting this message a lot on the OOTP forums lately in firefox when I click on a given thread. No issues in Chrome though.

Yeah... if you're logging from your home computer there's really not an awful lot of reason not to let OOTPdev leave a cookie on your hard drive. Some people get paranoid about these things, granted.
