Well of course, I'm hopeful that with the release of 2.6 making TBCB a 'money maker' again, they can devote more consistent time to the franchise and get 3 done within 3 years.

It would be nice to have just one new feature in 2.6. Injury tracking or finances, perhaps?

1) The database - I have just checked and the game fighter table does have a skin colour field, however it might not be set properly in the data. If not, someone would need to go through the 8000+ fighters making sure it is set correctly. 2) The Code - This would be easy to do by simply creating multiple sets of images in sub folders, ie white-white, white-black, white-hispanic etc... Then as the match starts pick the right set of images. 3) The artwork - There are currently 103 images for the fight. These would need to be regenerated for all nine skin colour combinations. So Aurelio would need to render another 824 (giving 927 total) action images. So while my coding work is small, there is a lot of work to be done others which make this very difficult to do for TB2012. Especially considering we are exploring new ways of doing the fight images in the future. Until we have ruled out other options its not worth investing all the time on it now. However, if poeple want to start checking/fixing the skin colour setting in the database, then it will make things a lot eaiser/faster when we do implement this. |

For future consideration: i.e TB3.
1. Would it be easier to have an overhead view of the ring and only show the present fighters-in-the-ring pics for knockdowns, knockouts, TKOs, ref holding fighters by the wrist at the end of a match, etc. 2. Would it be possible to add simple pre-fight announcements. For example: "In the red corner, from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the challenger.....Bob Cleroux!" or would that be a waste of resources? 3. At the end of a bout where a fighter has been stopped, can we have the announcer say,"Ladies and gentlemen, at two minutes and three seconds of round six, the winner by way of knockout....Trevor Berbick!" Again, this is for future consideration only. Cap

As Cap mentioned, I thought I saw the punches "sort of" match up with the pbp. Will this happen? To be honest with you, it is one of the most important parts of the game. I don't sim much, so the immersion factor is very important to me. The pbp is also very, very important to me. I've mentioned it a million times before, but we have to get rid of guys seemingly in a "world of hurt" not to be really hurt at all. All the other generic fluff is also a waste. "The crowd is really into it tonight" Tell us who gets hit and what they get hit with, if they are really hurt etc. and have the PUNCHES MATCH UP! Is this happening????

And, um, perhaps version 2.6 could include a new feature, like simple tracking of earnings? Fight cards show purses. Just grab the data in fields that are already being populated. I personally don't even care if, for version 2.6, the amounts are not realistic for the era.

The fight simulation is great, always has been....but has the game changed? Is there a career mode? Historical Replay? Promoter mode?

A new feature would be a welcome thing for the [mostly] very patient people who keep coming here year after year to check on things and gossip about boxing.

However, it is worth noting that as most of the game has been re-written and there are a number of changes, or if you like minor features. The skin layout is cleaner, there are table column selection tools, table column sorting, The ability to walk back through the rounds of the match looking at the stats etc. So no big AI features, but loads of little updates here and there. When beta testing starts I will get a gauge for how much interest these minor tweaks will generate. So for those that say there is nothing worth upgrading for, I say it depends on your view. I feel the 2012 interface makes it easier to select/change/view information and therefore makes the whole playing experience smoother. TB2012 (tb2.6) is the framework/interface update TB2013 (tb3) is the AI and gameplay update Its up to individuals to decide if its worth buying I hope they conclude that it is, as I think it is worth it plus it helps support TB2013!
