How to force White 'only' Player/Names into the game?

Hello,

After a brief hiatus ive recently purchased OOTP 13 and in my limited game time have enjoyed myself.

However I am struggling to implement something into a fictional league I am looking to run.

Basically I want the league to have and continue to have white only players, using realistic US white names (historical/modern). Now I believe this is possible and have had a look around the manual but I feel im missing something.

I have edited the Ethnicities.txt to show 1000 as the value for Caucasian in the US Historical and Modern lines (0 value for all others) and have then setup a league that is based in the USA and allows only players born in the USA to play...

The problem I have is that instantly the league generated black, hispanic players etc and also gave them names of that nature Ortiz, Pena, Javier etc

Please dont take this post as racist and although i looked in the Mod forum im not sure if this fits in there as its something im not releasing, so apologies if im in the wrong place.

All help appreciated.

You still have to edit the nations file, iirc. I believe the ethnicities file controls facegen.

By the way, define 'white name'.

Edit the nations file and then the names file line by line to ensure that each name meets your particular conception.

You'd also need to regenerate all of the pictures that have been generated in your league and that would probably solve your issue and provide you with the lily white league of your dreams.

Or you could save your current league as a template, do the requisite .txt changes and then load a new league.

If you're creating a fictional league based in the US, the ethnicities are hard-coded -- you can't do anything about them by editing the nations or the names databases. The only thing you can do is create an alternate US and base your league there. It's explained in this thread.

Thanks for that, I dont have a nations.txt file anywhere ... I keep looking for it, but cannot see it anywhere in my installation

As for white name, good point... Im not sure really, I suppose names of white americans back in the 1800s through the 1900s.. I know things change et all but im looking to remove the chance of there being a idk Ramon Ortiz as a young white blond kid, or a Javier Vazquez etc (im just recalling names from my test game).

In world.xml, you need to make a copy of The United States and use the copy for your league. The standard US has hard coded foreign free agents generated.

You should also set the baseball quality of the standard US to non-existent. Otherwise, you'll still have "standard US" born free agents showing up.

Go into the names.txt file, select all, and add a "Mc" or "Mac" onto everyone's last name, making everyone either Irish or Scottish. So now you'll have nothing but potato-eating, god-fearing, soulless, full-blooded ginger kids with names like Ramon McOrtiz and Javier MacVazquez.

I don't think there's any need for this. I gather OP is attempting to simulate a league from the late 19th/early 20th century, in which case his request makes perfect sense.

what about this? Use hardcoded_ml_player origins?

Sorry, yes I can understand why you think its racist... but its not, well im not.

Basically my idea was to create a 'Confederate States of America' ie the Civil War ended with the Union and Confederacy having their own nation and being at 'peace'.

Then from that the Confederacy would have its own baseball league (which id run) for white players... id have potentially introduced blacks slowly, but I wanted an all - white league to start with as that is what would encourage support and financial backing.

Looks like its not possible atm, so im ploughing my thoughts elsewhere, but thanks for all the feedback at least I know what I can and cant do in this area now.
