Senior League of Offseason Play (SLOP)

SLOP is a fictional fast-sim league aimed at people looking for an immersive OOTP12 experience. It's a concept league that I started with a few friends new to OOTP and have now into a full-fledged online league open to the public.

Here are the basics:

Code:
- Two single division six team leagues
- No injuries
- No coaches and scouts
- No development budget
- No arbitration
- 162 game schedule with interleague play
- Split season format with an LCS between the 1st and 2nd half champs (or team with the 2nd best overall record)
- LCS (best of seven games)
- Sunset Series (best of nine games)
- $100m salary cap
- $20m cash maximum
- 25-man rosters
- 3 levels of minors (SS-A, AA, AAA)
Want a draft a kid out of high school and see him give his goodbye speech on retirement day? You'll get that in SLOP. The entire season is simmed over two days with the draft in-between. This gives you maximum immersion without being so crazy that it's impossible to keep up. Team struggling? In fast-sim, you go from pretender to contender in as early as a month if you play your cards right.

The idea is to generally keep it simple, minimize the rules but also preserve continuity and rivalries. Rather than thinking of teams as disposal, you'll be creating a FRANCHISE that will be passed down for generations much like the Red Sox, Yankees, Cardinals, etc., in real life. We want immersion and fun without it turning into your job.

The fast-sim format is the best way to play and once you do, you'll never want to play solo again. If you're intrigued and want to give it a shot or have questions, drop me a PM on these boards for more information or post here. I'll be posting links to the league website shortly, as I'm just transitioning things over the coming days.

We currently have six spots open for new owners.

We've got a few spots left if you're still interested in dipping your toe in the fast-sim waters. There will be a re-entry draft of all of the league's teams and if you want to brand your own franchise, this is the chance to do that as we're offering that up for newcomers in this transition to full online status.

The SLOP web forum is here. So feel free to check it out, drop me a PM or whatever else. It'll be fun.

The league is not in OOOL, so you won't find it there.

You guys won't regret giving fast-sim a chance. It's like OOTP on crack. It's fast, addictive and nearly impossible to quit.

I have played in FOOL for a number of seasons and haven't regretted it one bit. Sure, I tried to walk away but found myself back in shortly after.

This league should take that concept, which was originally masterminded by DC, to another level.

Thanks for the replies guys. Was busy this week and hadn't checked the forums but I'm getting caught up now, replying to everyone and we'll get this show on the road. If someone else sees this and wants to get in on it, feel free to get in touch. We've got a team or two left.

We're using a new forum.

So you can register/join over here: Dark Cloud's League Forum - Front Office Football Central

1838 season starts next week. But don't let the year freak you out. We use modern financials, static numbers that should keep the eras consistent over time. Makes it easier to compare players that way and easier to understand, too.

Just finished the first season over at our new digs. We'll be starting up another season after the Thanksgiving break and we'd love to have you. 98-win San Mateo Seals missed out on the playoffs this past year, but would be delighted to have you at the helm. Their division mates the Los Angeles Vulcans are also available, as well as the 3rd place team in the NL, the Chicago Hornets.

We play a split season schedule, meaning you have two shots during the year to make the post-season. Still fast-sim.

I'm in for the LA Vulcans. Just let me know how to join up. (Tried registering for the bulletin board over at that link but no luck...)

We've also temporarily ditched the split-season format in favor of the top two regular season teams in each league in each league. So we'd love to have you if you're interested in a fast-sim experience.

Our league forum is here.

The Chicago Hornets need a new owner. If you were looking for an empty-cupboard situation this team would be a good one as they've just shed some big contracts. If you were looking for a contending team to ply your trade with, the New York Americans could also be available for you. (I own them and would cede them to you)

The off-season has begun, so it's a good time to get in. Drop me a note or stop over at our forum to learn more.
