I have said many times, we have ALWAYS-ALWAYS-ALWAYS switched all teams in the league at the same time - between reporting periods. We set a date we can all do it together (or else we delay it) and we have almost never seen the problems posted here that are most assuredly problems cause by trading files between different versions. We learned that was the best way to handle upgrades a long time ago and never strayed from that basic rule since.

And PLEASE try and keep these discussions at an adult level without throwing four-letter words round to make your point. That's high school rules.
If you get a chance to come down off that pedastal, maybe you can answer a question. What is the fix? One of my leagues has the same issue.

yea i do know u need to update at the same time all my league do that that im in and the 2 league i co-commish one is having the finance issue and the other the one i founded im waiting till the last update comes out and everyone updates before we begin so no issues will arise . for the one having the issue we did chk everyone version so the issue is a pain and i just want to know whats the cause is and its not the versions conflicting as we checked that and we submitted a ticket but we just told us it was the versions conflicting so im just hoping the issue will be resolved in this last update .

What I have to offer is that the two leagues I'm involved with upgraded across all teams and the commissioner at the same time - or "instant" if you will. No files are ever transferred between diff versions.

This usually occurs when a team might upload a file from version A and it it loaded into a version B - THEN A upgrades to B. There is no guarantee that will work.

We set a date after everyone has played their period games. On that date we ALL upgrade to the new version. Once that is confirmed, each team THEN uploads their results to the commissioner. Doing things this way we run into very few problems if any.

When we started playing online years ago, we weren't real accurate on upgrades - sometimes a few teams would upgrade the next cycle or sometimes it would be 2-3 cycles later. It became obvious that was not a good idea. I will admit I have an advantage in that all of our league members are either family or close friends of family and are all contactable by phone. Upgrade nights are a series of phone calls that insure all is updated before we restart the league. One time, all but one upgraded who wa called away on a business trip for a week - we had to wait for him to get back before we could proceed.

Pedestal? Of what pedestal do you speak? If trying to negotiate a more civil attitude is considered sitting on a pedestal - then so be it.

As I mentioned, we have gone to an extreme to insure the issue didn't happen to our leagues. If it had, I suspect we all would have agreed to modify the finances to our mutual agreement manually - then follow the upgrade rule in the future to make sure it didn't happen again.

Markus, I must respectfully disagree with you. I think the feature would be fun to have. You know, there is a compromise here. Have you thought about coding this feature with the ability to enable/disable, like for example the 10/5 rule? That way those that want to use this feature can and those that don't want it can disable it. Everyone is then a happy camper. Let us decide whether we want to use the feature or not.

Also, what about the ability to un-retire any coach? I'm still waiting for the ability to un-retire Whitey Herzog...

just add money in the amount of the contract when you make the trade and you can have the same thing as paying off that year of the contract.

Since you can simulate it already that might be another reason as to why it wasn't added.

You can even edit the news item to reflect that you paid such and such for the players salary.

But you often don't have the amount of cash needed. So maybe I just signed a guy to an insane 5 year/20M a year deal, and want to unload him. If I want to pawn him off on someone but they won't take the full deal, they only want him for 10M a year, there's no way right now to give them "10M per year for the next 5 years"

Wonder how the AI would deal with something like this? Would it end up being just another thing for people to complain about?

right now there is now way to tell that they would take him at 10M instead of 20M or even any amount, unless I'm missing something
How would the AI deal with this? probably another reason why it was cut.
People on forums always find something to complain about

BTW patch here yet? how about now?

now?

So you've killed the pre-release touted contract buy-out feature as well?

Hopefully major league baseball can fix the playoffs rules next year and allow the 2nd wild card that way it'll be in next years game.

I realize that I am a little slow here, but I might as well offer Markus the feedback, for what it's worth:
In my opinion, the revised/improved financial model still doesn't quite work. In principle, the balance between the various sources of a team's income and free agent/salary demands is still not there. I have spent quite a bit of time playing around to try to achieve a decent balance so that at least some of the teams in my 24-team league come out each year with a profit while most of the free agents end up being signed sooner or later. I think I have achieved a reasonably stable situation, but really one shouldn't have to mod this part of the game to just get it to work. The game's default should be that X% (say, 20-25%?) of the teams in any era are going to be profitable, given a reasonable distribution of market sizes, and this will allow the large majority of free agents to be signed.
I hope the "financial tweaks" alluded to by Markus will avoid the need for us to be tinkering with this. It's kind of frustrating, because as things stand now you have to make some changes, run the league for 15 years or so, make some more changes, run it again, and so on. It takes quite a bit of time.

I think for next year there should be something done with the stadiums. The better , the newer the stadium the more sources of income you have. Over time as your stadium gets older it no longer becomes new and you don't get that income boost.

Just a thought.

Just a quick question, but will the bug that causes the game to freeze after scouting a College Feeder league and creating free agents be addressed in the next patch? It has put a halt to my Jays dynasty and I'm dying to get going again.

that would be absolutely terrible if they add another playoff team. when do they stop? do we really want the regular season to mean nothing like the NBA, NHL, and NFL seasons do?

Total expenses is not a number that can be edited. Individual expenses (which can be edited) are correct, but total expenses (i.e., the math) is wildly incorrect.
