If you guys don't think that finally being able to save games, not being stuck with substitution slip-ups, the new auto-calc, and the new financial additions aren't all major, significant improvements then we must live in different gaming worlds.

That's a nasty and undeserved description for people who really like the game. I could come up with one for people like you that would be just as offensive, but since the only reason to do so would be to try to hurt your feelings, demean you, and make an argument ugly and personal I'm not going to do that. You shouldn't have either.

Unfortunately I am at the point where I am going to go back to my backup of where I imported and continue on with my league in OOTP11. I'd love to experience all the new story lines(probably what I was most excited about), the new contract options, and the countless other features that were put into this new version but I can't go on with my league in 12 with the way finances are. |

Which, of course, is entirely possible.

To some of the other posters, obviously I recognize all of OOTPs great qualities, or I wouldn't still be buying new versions after all of these years. The point of the original post was not to say that OOTP has suddenly become an inferior baseball sim, or that I'd recommend a different program. All I was really trying to get across, through my veil of frustration, is that I don't feel that OOTP12 was as significant of an upgrade from the previous version, when compared to what we've seen in the past. Compounding that frustration was the fact that the new features I encountered in my "inaugural" season were either buggy or unwelcome. The new injury diagnosis personal message seems to have been the most talked about of all the things I brought up. All I wanted here was an option to not be notified of undiagnosed injuries by personal message. I'm not going to make any roster moves until I have a diagnosis, so the fact that each of these injuries now stops my sim twice is frustrating... even more so when the diagnosis that comes in is less than the threshold I have set for injury notification messages. Maybe it was there, and I overlooked it, but I couldn't find a way to get this done. While I believe OOTP is the best baseball sim out there, in my opinion this latest version came up a little short. Maybe after a patch or two, it'll get there, and I really hope it does, but for my money, I'll stick to 11 until I see some more fixes. |

Given the OP's supplemental comments, my post here would have been pointless. I wish him happiness playing OOTP 11, which is a great game.

I started with APBA..went to Strato-Matic.. then found Front Page Sports..that died and I went to High Heat..now I'm on OOTP. Each version/stage had things that bugged the heck out of me..from unrealistic game play to having to update stats by hand ( eraser and pencil! ) I am conflicted a little bit here.. I want people to complain about issues that can be improved.. I also want people to be realistic and remember how far things have come in baseball simulation. It isn't perfect, but I also don't want potential buyers to get the wrong idea that it is a game full of errors. It is an amazingly fun and realistic game to play that can use improvement in a few areas. I want this love affair to last. Last edited by Reggie; 07-11-2011 at 02:03 AM. |

No need to apologize.. I've spent the last 30 years trying to replicate that experience. It was the best time of my life. I just want a game that gives me the same experience with a little less work. This game does that for me. I want this to be a viable company for many MANY years. That is all. |

Let me get this straight. You think that insulting nicknames, designed to hurt, demean, and make arguments go angry and personal in what had been a civil thread up to that point are somehow a good idea here? If so, then your partisanship has totally overridden your judgment.
