gehrig, on your question about starting a league with a 'bad' scout, it's one of the few exceptions I make to the 'whatever happens, happens' dictum I adhere to in the game. Assuming we're talking about the inaugural, if your philosophy is to start with at least adequate or better - and you don't always get that on league creation, you're right - I don't have any problem with mitigating tools with an appropriate balance applied. In the case you've described, edit the scout's abilities to what you deem is acceptable and as a consequence, assign a compensatory penalty proportionate to your adjustment.

The coupling can be infinite in its possibilities. Some, IMHO, realistic exchanges: for each level of accuracy I increase my scout, deduct 750K from my development allowance; for each level I increase the scout's talent/s, increase his salary by X dollars and/or add to the length of his contract; increase his awareness at the major league level, decrease it at the international level, etc... Ultimately, your call, with balance and integrity in mind. As I said, it's a rare incident that allows me to depart from allowing the game's dictated destiny to prevail.

Edit: I'd better add that you do need to exercise caution on what that investment actually returns. The ratings and estimates given in the pool are not impervious to change- sometimes drastic -once you advance to the next day. If the teams don't have any players, an accurate assessment of any global nature can't be relied upon. The overall is a best guess by your scout based on a dynamic pool and it may or may not be realized in the selection of those players. Again, only my Edit: I should add you'll need to run a re-scout in order to implement those changes.

Wow! 25 years playing everying inning is incredible.

The only thing that would make the OP more awesome is if he admitted that every season he renamed one of the players on one of the teams Doug Glanville and went into the editor and gave him 1s across the board and then forced his team to start him in center field every day of every game and then phoned the real Doug Glanville every week to inform him that he is currently batting .074 in 362 at-bats and has -14 WAR.

(ah crap, I think I just fanboyed after all)

I also play every inning of every game for my team. It is the only way I can play and feel connected to my team and players.

I'm in year 20 of my league, it's taken me from v4 (2002) 'til now to get there. Between work, family, and real life I get in 2 to 3 seasons per version.

Hey Markus, you think we could get an option to disable QuesTec in the next patch?

Yep, me too. I started a league in 6.5 and carried it through to 9, putting in 40 seasons (2005-2045) playing every inning of every game. That's a lot of pitching changes.

Do we have confirmation that the OP is indeed curt schilling? I wonder how many members here are famous to some degree without the forum being the wiser. Infamous myself. PM me curt, us celebs need to stick together and refrain from philandering with the general populace.

I thought we were supposed to treat him like any other average man.

Maybe we shouldn't ask questions on whether he's really Curt Schilling or not. Just answer his question and find a solution to his problem. I think that's what's most important.

Ill decide whats important relative to myself, but thank you for opining. I love the smell. If you'll notice my post count you will undoubtedly conclude that the mere act of posting is out of character for the ramblin man and posting twice in such a limited time frame would beg the question: What is wrong with our friend RM? Well ill ease the burden of speculation; the ramblin man is out of medication. Proceed with caution and forgive him his transgressions.

This truly is a great game! Now you need to get an online league going with some of my favorite Sox players. Is Kevin Millar a gamer ;-)
