1B and Most Distinguished Hitter Award Winner, Shawn Spencely. I saw the name and immediately changed Spencely to Spencer and gave him the nickname "Psych". I signed him to a 4-year contract the next offseason and he has lead my team to the Championship Series which I currently trail 2 games to 1.

Originally the best pitcher in my hybrid fictional / real life league is "Keith Keith"

Changed his first name to Kevan eventually.

Do people really name their children Nacho? I have a few of those in my fictional league. In another fictional league there was a player whose nickname was "Aching Bones" and a 26 year old pitcher who's nickname was "The Old Man". That doesn't necessarily instill confidence in either player. Unfortunately, I had to delete that league.

By the way, there was a player who's last name is CArm. I'm not sure about the name CArm, but I am wondering that since both the C and the A are capital, that the line for Catching Arm ratings somehow snuck into the Player Names.

Luke Appling was known early in his career as "Old Aches & Pains"

Nacho is the short form of Ignacio. Like Bill for William. Ignacio is a real first name.

Nachos, as in tortilla chips covered with cheese, are named after a guy named Nacho. So the answer is yes.

Luke Appling was known as "Old Aches and Pains". Granted, that wasn't until late in his career but the game doesn't (yet) have a way of assigning nicknames based on age. Actually, I'm not sure that I want that; Ken Griffey Jr. was called "The Kid" even earlier this year.

I think the game adds names you create for players into the name database. I'm pretty sure that at one time I accidentally hit the Enter button before I was finished typing in the last name "Shoemaker" and now there's a guy on one of the teams (fittingly the misfit St. Louis Browns) named Cliff Shoemake. So if you, I don't know, went into the editor and accidentally typed in CArm and hit Enter before you realized that the field you were typing into wasn't a search field or something, that could be it. Pure conjecture on my part though.

It seems like I get a lot of good nicknames. One of my better pitchers is Eric "Parisian Bob" Lambert. He's not a Bob and he's from Maryland but I really like the nickname.

A similar note was a former prospect, Antonio "Death Valley Jim" Zocmaroa (born in Wisconsin).

Another misplaced Jim was Jose "Milkman Jim" Estrada.

One of the highly rated prospects in the upcoming draft has been given the nickname "Frolic". He's not my type of prospect, but I still hope he falls to me.

One that always baffled me belonged to the MVP of my division rival, Herb "Unser Choe" Nordahl. I have no idea what it means.

"Unser Choe" was the nickname of Joe Hauser who played for Cleveland and Philadelphia in the '20's and I think set home run records in the minors. Comes from the German for "our Joe". I remember this (correctly I hope) from an article in a SABR journal.

There's a centerfielder for Oakland in my league named Coco Crisp...

Also, in the College World Series this year, Oklahoma had a shortstop named Caleb Bushyhead.
