Increase players from certain countries
I have no problem getting a ton of players from the usual foreign countries like Venezuela, Mexico, Domincan Republic. The problem is with countries not traditionally related to baseball. How can I get more players from the more unusual baseball places such as England, Russia, Germany, France? I have all their quality set to Excellent but have just 4 players from those places combined.
I have Russia's baseball quality set to Excellent, but I have only 1 Russian player in my entire world of 8 leagues. |

It doesn't happen overnight. If you want the game to do it naturally it takes time. Having teams in that country would make it faster, but the absolute fastest way to do it would be to set the league's nation to that nation, allow 0% of the players to come from international countries and then create x number of free agents that you'd want in the league from that country or change a team's nationality and do the same with that particular team. That's how I've always done it anyway.

No, the nationality of players in a league is determined by the nationality of the teams. So for instance, if you had an 8-team league base in the DR with 4 teams from the DR, 3 from Mexico and 1 from Panama, your domestic players would be 50% from DR, 37.5% Mexico, 12.5% Panama.

In my example, the foreign percentage would be set at 0%.
If it was set to anything above 0, players would be created from countries that did not have any teams in your league, according to the baseball level of the country. |

The next rookie class had a nice representation from the feeder leagues, as well as the usual assortment of Americans, Mexicans, Dominicans, Canadians, etc. I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

Another way to approach is through your nations file or with world editor. From the manual,
" A Note about Leagues with Foreigners If we had set the Foreigner Percentage to 20%, then 80% of the players would have come from the League Nation, and 20% would have come from random other nations. Nations with higher baseball levels have proportionally more players. A rough breakdown of the percentages is below: Baseball Level% of Foreigners5 / ExcellentAbout 70%4 / GoodAbout 15%3 / AverageAbout 10%2 / FairAbout 1/2 of 1%1/ PoorAbout 1/10 of 1%0 / Nonexistent0This means that about 70% of foreign players generated will come from nations with a baseball level rating of excellent (5). About 15% will come from nations with a baseball level of good (4), and so forth. No players are generated from countries with a baseball level of nonexistent (0). Additionally, players from nations with higher baseball levels are more likely to be good players." So if you want to increase the numbers of guys from England you can modify England's country entry in nations.txt to a higher level of baseball. You can also explore world and use nation editor to change the level of baseball in a country. I am currently experimenting with using this file to era accurate foreign born players. |
