In Liverpool itself? Doubt it. The majority of Liverpool FC's support comes from overseas.

ESPNSoccerNet's got stories on the English and US 30-man preliminary rosters. The comment threads are abuzz with the predictable "How could [Bradley/Capello] [select/leave off] [insert player name here]."
Interesting to me is that some people think Charlie Davies should have been selected to the US squad. Pardon my ignorance, but I don't see what benefit there is to bringing on a player who's certain (as far as I know) not to be fit in time for the competition. The argument seems to be either that 1) Davies' selection to the 30-man would bring about a much-needed boost in morale, to which I retort that if that is necessary we are in a lot of trouble, or 2) that Davies is better than the alternatives at forward, which I have a hard time believing given the circumstances. |

I think it's just wishful thinking on most people's parts. I would have loved it if Davies had made it to the World Cup, and there's absolutely no doubt that a fully fit Davies would have been a great addition. Just too much to hope for, though.

dola
People who are saying Bradley somehow screwed up by not picking him are idiots, though. It's pretty clear that the only reason he's been left off is because he won't be fit in time, not because Bradley doesn't think he's good enough or anything.

For the Everton fans on the board I watched Notts Forest v Blackpool last night, now you maybe saying whats that got to do with Everton well Blackpools right back Seamus Coleman is on loan from Everton and have to say very impressed by him. Not sure who's been playing right back for Everton but he'd best look over his shoulder, with Baines on the left and Coleman on the right Everton could actually become very scarey attacking wise.

Yeah, Coleman seems like the real thing. He looked very impressive going forward in the few times he was pressed into action with the senior squad this season, although he still looked shaky defensively. I understand he's playing like Maicon with Blackpool, though. If he's ready, Everton could really use him at right back next season -- it's definitely one of the weakest positions at the club right now. The current choices are Tony Hibbert (solid defensively but worthless going forward), Phil Neville (who's way too slow to be playing fullback at this point in his career), or John Heitinga (in the weakest of his three positions). If he can step into the lineup, that's a few million pounds Moyes won't have to spend on a fullback that could be better spent on getting a pacy right winger.

Why the hell Liverpoor doesnt hire Avram Grant is beyond me. He is one of the worlds best coaches.

'The Special One' did it again. Although I don't think he will be leaving Madrid for very long now as a result

Not one post during the CL Final? What is this?
Anyway, it was quite an enjoyable match. I thought Milito's second goal was a thing of beauty. It looked to me like Inter outplayed Bayern nearly the whole way, although if I'm wrong, I can claim to still be new to this "soccer" thing. It seemed to me that Inter was much better on the attack than Bayern, even aside from Milito's goals; their chances always seemed better than the ones Bayern created. Also, I think Goran Pandev dove twice more while I was typing this post. Last edited by His Own Bad Self; 05-22-2010 at 05:05 PM. |

Jose is a great manager, but he's a greater jerk. As usual he wants the attention to be on him. He can't even let Inter's fans enjoy their first CL victory in decades -- within minutes he was yapping about leaving and going to Real Madrid. What a self-centered jackass.

I get the feeling with Jose he would like to go to Madrid for 2-3 years and wipe Barca's face in the dirt then take over at Man Utd when Fergie retires

It begins! Liverpool part way with Rafa and the search for a new manager starts. Kenny Dalglish as a caretaker perhaps? Worse still is the persistent rumors of high-profile players including Stevie G and Torres on their way out.
