Always nice beating the Giants.
And it's good to have Crisp back. He is swinging the bat well now, and we finally have that three CF defense we were supposed to have from the beginning. Rajaii caught at least two balls last night that Cust probably would not have. |

EDIT: beat me by seconds, mirffy.
![]() It'll be good to have Ellis back, and Cust at DH and far away from left field. |

Unfortunate to see that Chavez might finally have to hang 'em up.

I know lots of A's fans like to dog on Chavez and say the A's should have kept Tejada over him, but not me. I've always loved the guy and he is and will always be one of my favorite A's of all time. It'll be a sad day for me when he officially hangs it up.

I get it now. The A's look really good when they face other anemic offenses because their good pitching looks like great pitching and they can score a run or two to win.
Again, I love LOVE LOVE the A's beating the Giants. Hoping for a sweep tomorrow. |

Pitching was great and Giants offense was awful. Not sure which played more into this series but either way I LOVE beating the Giants.

The Giants have an offense?? haha.
And who had 43 games before Chavez went on the DL? Also, what's the over/under on when Dukes season is over?

Tejada's first season with the Orioles was 2004, the year he turned 30.
In the 2004 season, Chavez was 26. Tejada signed for 6 years at $72 million. Chavez signed for 6 years at $66 million. The A's had a top shortstop prospect in Bobby Crosby. Sure, he turned out to suck, but AT THE TIME, he was a top prospect and was 2004 AL Rookie of the Year in 2004. I know everyone loves to point at this and say, "Beane made the wrong move!" It's easy to do that six years later when we see what happened to both of these guys. But at the time it was clearly the right move. I would have made the same move faced with the same situation in an OOTP game, and I'm sure most other people would have. |

Also of note is how good of a player Eric Chavez was. All anyone remembers now is that he has been hurt all the time that last couple years. But up until 2006, he was extremely good, both offensively and defensively.

Oh and before anyone brings up how much Chavez sucked in the playoffs:
2000 vs. NYY Tejada: 7-for-20 (.350), 1 RBI Chavez: 7-for-21 (.333), 4 RBI 2001 vs. NYY Tejada: 6-for-23 (.286), 1 RBI Chavez: 3-for-21 (.143), 0 RBI 2002 vs. MIN Tejada: 3-for-21 (.143), 4 RBI, 1 HR Chavez: 8-for-21 (.381), 5 RBI, 1HR 2004 vs. BOS Tejada: 2-for-23 (.087), 2 RBI Chavez: 1-for-23 (.045), 0 RBI |

On a side note, we currently have 8 different players on the active roster who have played in the OF this year. (Fox, Patterson, Rosales, Crisp, Davis, Gross, Sweeney, & Cust) Thats just freaky odd.

Yeah, and wasn't there something either this year or last year about how we've had 800,000 (give or take) left fielders over the last 10 years? No one has stuck at that position really since Rickey. Maybe someday Michael Taylor can.

It's official, Justin Duchscherer will have surgery and miss the rest of the season.
Also Anderson recalled from the DL to start today's game and Cedric Bowers to AAA. Sucks to lose Duchscherer, but talent-wise we're still OK, as Trevor Cahill has been really good so far this year. Sheets/Anderson/Braden/Gonzlaez/Cahill is still a great rotation. |

A's are rollin' again. 5-2 so far on the 10-game road trip. Who says this team can't play on the road?
Rajai is back to his awesome self, which helps a lot. How about that last run scored yesterday? Rajai singles, steals 2nd, steals 3rd, Barton walks, Sweeney fielder's choice, Rajai scores. |
