Problem with DFA listed players on Day 1

Hi,
I started a new game using the MLB quick start and could not progress beyond the first day as I had 3 players listed DFA. When I tried to sssign them to the minors I was told that they had to be on the 40 man roster, but that was full. The only option left to me was to release them, which resilted in ipsetting the fans and costing me around $22 million.

Is this a deliberate no win scenario being thrown at me or is there a bug in the quick start?

If you had waived and DFAd them then I think you would have been fine.

Actually they were also on the Waiver list, with 3 days to run, so I couldn't waive them either. I tried aall the options on the 'right click' transactions menu and only 'release' would work.
