The new homepage is definitely built for beginners which is fine. But, after a while though, it will become more and more annoying to wade through verbiage like:

"It would be wise to keep an eye on your minor league players as well."

Please, build a homepage for experienced users that is clean and uncluttered, in addition to this one.

I am a little concerned that beta is basically beginning at the same time this year as X, but you are expecting to release the game "significantly earlier"

The screens do look nice though. I like the schedule on the manager home page, not sure about all the text on the left.

From what I've seen in the screenshots, it seems that a lot of what I used to use bookmarks for seem to be much easier to access. That will relieve me of having to use bookmarks for all of these features.

Much more importantly, I recognize how important these things are for improving the accessibility of OOTP to new users. Even with the newer, simplified and perhaps dumbed down interface, the core of the game hasn't changed and in fact will probably be improved according to the improved statistical tracking. From what I can see some of the other veterans are unhappy with a more simplified approach, but thats because we've played with the same interface for years so we know it front and back. But that doesn't mean that new users didn't face a steep learning curve, which I myself experienced when I first played OOTP with 2007.

AFAIK, there were some features in the last version that required some significant testing time. Specifically the new pitching system. I haven't heard of anything in 11 that would seem to be prone to the performance issues that the pitching system (could) have had if it had been implemented poorly.

I would like to see a couple of shots of the broadcast screen and the widgets. Will the widget screens be resizable? And what about the pbp text? How much improvement there? This is what will make me buy 11 or not.

I like the look. Very ITP and that is a good thing.

I am hoping player coordinates can be reconfigured for both day and night for each team.

Nice to see the row highlighting finally make it into this version. As Le Grande stated, really need line seperation in the standings to clearly and cleanly seperate the divisions.

Somewhat, but not enough IMO. But that's the designer/typographer in me speaking. Aesthetically, the standings screen is basically a wall of text with little to break it up for the eye, and that's a no-no in terms of ease of legibility.

Thinking about it a bit more, a bit more spacing between the columns might be good too. The games behind column, if the decimal .5 is to be used, should be aligned on the decimal point, not right aligned. According to the rules of typography at least.

I'll probably whip up a modified screenshot to show how some very simple changes to the spacing can make it a screen much easier for the eyes to process.

No, not 6 1/2, but 6½.

All standard fonts contain the ½ character (along with lots of other special characters, such as ¼, ¾, °, ©, ®, and so on). For anyone wondering, ½ is ASCI code 0189. (Hold down ALT, then type 0189 using the number pad.)

Very good eye LGO. As a web designer, I completely agree with all that you have said.

Not sure if this was covered in the thread or not, and I think it may have been, but each row also needs to be alternating cells of light and dark.

I'll make one suggestion immediately: on the standings screen, add either a blank line between the last team in a division and the division name/column header line OR add a highlight behind the division name/column header line. (Maybe even a combination of both.)

It would help the legibility of the screen enormously. Right now it's cluttered and hard to read without some sort of vertical breaks.

Oh, and I'd still rather see a fractional ½ than a decimal .5 for the half-game behind standings. Looks much nicer and more elegant.
Like this?

I don't know why you'd need that information accessible when it's clearly laid out in the autoplay dropdown menu. It takes up a lot of space for something that is the least dynamic of any of the sections. I was hoping for more user customization (say in the form of widgets, like in play by play?) as far as some of the most used screens (i.e. sim screen and manager's home page).

At least give us the option to use the old Manager's Home design. I typically use Manager's Home as my default page as I sim day-by-day. I can't really see myself using the new home page, without more access to stats...
Displaying player stats is an option

I agree...each Title Row would look better in a different Backgroud to the rest of the page. Even though it's in a different font colour...it's not quite enough.

It's not the managed team that is highlighted, it's just the mouse-over effect of the row-highlighting...

Well, I disagree I prefer less changing backgrounds... it makes the whole screen easier on the eyes IMO.

Based on the poll I posted, the ½ / .5 thing should be optional too.
