As per your requirements, I'd go with either Spurs (Tottenham Hotspur, in case you didn't know), Villa, or Arsenal.
Lower level England, I'd go with Leeds as they attempt to make it back to the top level once they are promoted to the Championship next season. Last edited by Cooleyvol; 02-08-2010 at 04:07 PM. |

Thanks guys. I'd been leaning towards Aston Villa. I have seen a bit more of them.
The Spurs are interesting because I have a few friends that are big Arsenal fans. I will try to catch and read some more about both and then make a choice. Thanks again for your help! Quote:

There'll be no "footie fans" after next season then as Leigh Genesis are close to going out of business.

Leigh Genesis need to look at themselves before they start to blame anybody, the people who run them are useless. I get the local papers which are free papers that cost little to advertise in but yet never do LG advertise in them, when they moved from Horwich they should have made a big song and dance about it but not one advertisment was in any local paper.
Also I know I've joked about it but changing kits every 5 minutes doesn't help and that crap name "Genesis" which idiot thought of that ? Maybe look great on a college basketball court or some such like but people have been brought up with the likes of United, City, Rovers, Town and not Genesis on the end of their football teams. You can also add the fact why when they moved to the LSV did they not get a written in stone contract that kept them at the LSV for at least 5 years or even more, I've seen bar teams ran better than how Leigh are run which is no wonder they are going out of business. Leigh missed their chance of being a decent non league team years back when they first moved into the town when even Wigan Athletic were struggling but they didn't take that chance, so now they've seen Wigan get into the prem and even teams like FC United grow, were Leigh have been run by a bunch of idiots and with the looks of it are still run by the idiots. |

![]() It reminds me of a pub team, years gone by pub teams used to be called The Red Lion or Bull & Butcher stuff like that but the last few years they've been changing their names to things like Real FC or AC Real and crap like that and Leigh Genesis stinks of either a man who hit the bottle and came up with that name or a pr prat who knows nothing about football and thought he was the dogs whatsits when he came up with it. |

But it's like somebody saying instead of the New York Yankees they'll be called New York United or Boston Rovers it just doesn't go.

I loved the Leigh Genesis name. I hated the fact that they couldnt play home games in their own stadium..which they helped fund.

But your American, it's what an American would like aka New York Cosmos, Tulsa Roughnecks, Chicago Sting, Leigh Genesis now look at what football teams in England are called Wigan Athletic, Man United, Blackburn Rovers, Leigh Genesis. Which group does the Leigh Genesis name fit into and which does it look out of place ?

Dominic Speakman
A graduate from Nottingham University, Dominic Speakman’s first job was as a management consultant for Price Waterhouse Coopers. After a year in London, Dominic returned to his home town of Bolton and to the heart of his travel industry family, becoming managing director of Travel Counsellors between 2000 – 2003, the hugely successful home based travel agency created by his father, David Speakman. Realising his ambition to create a successful business of his own making, Dominic spotted a gap in the market for tailor made, luxury, long haul holidays, marketed to consumers online but with a dedicated customer service team providing the best in personal service, and set up Destinology in January 2004. Since 2003, Dominic has grown Destinology from five staff to over 80 in its UK offices and four in the first overseas office, set up in Saddlebrook, New Jersey, in May 2008. Turnover in 2008 is predicted to be £35 million. Awards for Dominic and Destinology include the company being named 14th in the 2007 ‘Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to Work For’ and Dominic being named one of 2007’s thirty most successful and ambitious entrepreneurs in the annual ‘Young Guns for 2007’ awards, run by Growing Business magazine. In early 2008, Dominic realised his life ambition of owning a football club, becoming the owner and chairman of Leigh RMI, the club of the town where he was born, currently playing in the Unibond Premier division. Dominic’s vision for the club is to finance the ongoing costs, change the infrastructure of the club and increase the number of spectators, building it from a small club into a larger operation. |

He left the club after about 4 months when he realized the morons running Leigh Sports Village werent going to allow the team to play many of their home games at, well, home.

Looks like it's Bye Bye Portsmouth (and possibly Cardiff and Southend and Hinckley United). It's a shame it's going to happen but if it makes other teams pay their dues on time and in full, then it's for the best. British football needs a bit of a pruning.

Can you post a link with info about the clubs other than Pompey? I can only find information on Portsmouth and am curious about Cardiff and Southend in particular.
