Those buttons are on the left because everything in America starts on the left, you read from the left.

I've never thought twice about them being on the right or the left. Why would something be better on the right?

In Windows, regarding Firefox and IE, I'd hate to have an often-used button right next to the same one that shuts down the application.

We're of course trying this out first. If this sucks, we'll add an option to put it back...

You read starting on the left, but most of us do stuff with our right.

I'm cool with leaving it on the left (I can get by, really), but I'd just prefer them on the right. Being able to otherwise customize the toolbar is much more important to me.

You of course haven't thought twice about it because you have no mobility problems. I'm a disabled Vet and i have trouble moving my hands and arms. Not to cry a river but thats why its better on the right for me, anyways as i said forget about it..

I can't believe that the most contentious issue regarding a new interface is where to put the forward and back buttons. <shakes head>

I have a very similar problem and solved it by going from mice to trackballs. Your arm and hand essentially stays in one place. Couple that with an external number pad for your other hand and you can rock at OOTP.

Logitech > Mice > Trackballs

Logitech > Keyboards > Number Pads

I'm surprised it's that high.

That's quite true. I was asking mostly out of curiosity's sake, more to kq76, since his just seemed to be a matter of preference. Your reasoning is more a matter of utility.

You've piqued my curiosity again though. Since you have to move the cursor more slowly than I would, what does make the right hand side of the application better for you? Is it that most of the other buttons in the application are already on that side. Is it because you are using a touch screen tablet?

I don't use the bookmarks because I don't want to get into a mode where I'm only looking at what I bookmarked and not exploring around in different areas/pages of the league.

I still use the drop down menus and the links on the main game screen for almost everything. When I can't find a way to back up I am still trying to train my brain to go to the "back" button. I really hope it stays on the left!

Why? It allows slotting the most important places to the F-keys. I use that all the time and find it incredibly useful

As long as you keep the quick links in, I'll be happy.

Otherwise, I tend to use forward/back, but it does suck sometimes when exiting out of the trade screen. Pressing back to get back to where I was always seems to take a while, since I use the "make this work now", and the back keeps going back to my previous deals and trying to make them work. Even if that was cached better, that would be nice (so it wouldn't have to keep recalculating each time).

But overall, it'd be nice to have a customizable sim interface. I always like seeing how my hitters and pitchers are doing, so even if a little box at the bottom of the screen kept refreshing every day with a "who's hot" and "who's cold" for my players, then I could see at a glance what I need to change in my lineup. And it'd be nice to throw on a box that keeps my most recent line score, so that I can see quickly whether my team won the last game 12-2 or 4-3.

Although I guess that last point is getting away from navigation, but in general, quick links are good. There's a reason web browsers are moving towards the bookmarks toolbar type stuff a bit more, and why Word and Excel went to those funky buttons at the top instead of everything being in menus.

Just b/c it works for you, Markus, doesnt mean its the best way of usage. I, for one, have never used the bookmarks OR the links at the bottom. I seem to be in the majority by the looks of this poll. They're pretty and all, but not needed for me to use the software.

You really seem to dismiss some who try to give good feedback sometimes when you could find out some good information on how to better the game............Just sayin'.

Very happy to hear that its being revamped though!

My answer to the poll is "none of the above". I use back a little bit....out of necessity...but I prefer pressing the actual buttons that are set to go to a page (or close a page).

Markus, I was going to write you a reply about this but no longer need to since Cooley nailed it.

MD thank you so much for the info, it is really helpful. Veteran's Affairs mention using a hands free headset, but everyone i talked to said they are not that great. But the track ball sounds like it will do the trick. Because I'm disabled i spend atleast 5 hours a day playing OOTP. I will admit this game helped me keep my sanity.(wife begs to differ) And i felt that i was going to have to give this game up. Your the greatest MD (don't blush) and your help is always appreciated.....

The right side is better for me as the wrists don't move well so sliding up to the right is easier than trying to get across to the other side of the page. But MD gave me a couple of great suggestions, so i think i will be okay. Thanks
