Question OOTP 11 - Interface navigation poll!

Hey guys,

we will redesign the interface for OOTP 11 quite a bit in order to make it more useful and easy to look at. Please let us know which of the OOTP 10 interface navigation elements you currently use frequently.

Thank you!
Markus

I'd really love to be able to customize my own icon toolbar!

Agreed - and getting rid of buttons that aren't used, like the "report" button.

Or at least the ability to move it elsewhere.

I almost exclusively use the forward/back buttons and the right click feature on player pages. Occasionally I use the recent tab. I don't use the other two at all.

Do NOT get rid of the right click on player pages - that is awesome!

Note: I'd use the icons at the bottom of the page more often IF they were associated with the team I was viewing, i.e. when examining the roster of my AA team, there are times I automatically click the pitching icon, only to see my ML team's pitching staff.

A thought - instead of using bookmarks (the only thing I use that for is to assign an F-key that goes to a minor club's home page), create a new button with multiple menu listings that will take you to one of your minor affliates homepage?

Oh, that drives me bonkers! I love the icon toolbar, but that makes me want to bang my head against a wall I do it so often.

I'd use the backward/forward buttons a lot more if I could put them on the right of the toolbar. Likewise with the bookmarks if I could put them on the toolbar too. I imagine most would agree if we had the ability to really customize toolbars like you can with browsers (i.e. put your bookmarks/recent dropdown here, your back and forward buttons there, and add/remove as many icon shortcuts as you like) that we'd all be in heaven. We'd also probably be able to save some screen space by not having to have a bar above and one below. Just make sure you can put it below or above as I'm sure we all have our prefs on that (I like below).

I use the forward and back button and I wish you would put it back to the right side. Most people are right handed and now we have to reach across to use this button. I think a left handed beta tester switched this, and i asked about it last year and was told the usual response, maybe next year. I know this is a small thing to an able bodied person, but when you have a disability it makes that other side of the page seem like its a mile away. Thanks..

I don't get that... why don't you use the tabs for this, like it is supposed to be?

Well, in our current design the toolbar at the bottom will disappear anyway, it is confusing to have navigation on several places of the screen (top + bottom). Instead we'll 'pimp' the top area to make it more useable.

No way, every browser has them on the top-left, and that's for a reason I guess ... But maybe I can make this customizable!

EDIT: Nevermind. You changed your response to one a bit more open to changing them or at least giving the option to change. Kudos.

Who says that the majority wants them on the right? It's the first time I heard this to be honest.

I didnt say that either. It was hypothetically stated given your response prior to your editing said response.

I don't want to argue with you Markus but every year until last it was always on the right, I can go back and check old treads to prove this point. But if you could atleast customize it that would be great.

Actually, the last three versions had them on the left. The only one to have them on the right was OOTP 2006.

I know I complained about the move to the left when you first changed it. And I'm not disabled, but I sure do like my buttons on the right too.

Just because browsers by default put them on the left doesn't mean it's a good place for them. My theory is Microsoft/Netscape or whomever just never really thought about it, just like they stupidly put the start button on the left (didn't old macs actually have a start-like button on the bottom right, that was about the smartest thing they ever did if you ask me) and others just copied them. I'm big into customizing my toolbars and when I see a screenshot for a launchbar (programs that are usually made by people who actually put a lot of thought into them), they're, to the best of my recollection, more often than not on the right side of the screen.

Worse than the above, however, I'm disappointed to hear that you're doing away with the ability to have the toolbar on the bottom at all. *shakes head*
