New board features

Looks like some new things are in the works. Personally I'm wondering where you check to see who thanked you for posts. Also liking the project feature. Very helpful.

It will probably be taken away later today, like the private forums were.

It's in your profile the amount of "thanks" you get/have gotten, and if you follow the links from the search, you'll see who thanked you.
Personally, I prefer the rep system (preferably anonymous).

Yeah, you only need to look at my thanks total under my user name to see how useful it is.

I wouldn't worry about it SD, imo it's about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Two of the people who I respect and I'd say alot of people respect on here are canadiancreed and eugene church and they have 3 between them, heck eugene doesn't even have one so like I say "chocolate fireguard"

I never noticed it till now. I rarely use anything but quote.
But maybe in the future i might try a different function in few posts.
Though i could see thanks being great for when a person has a problem.

But i dont know if it should be public or not. A lot of members have done things for others and probably didnt get all the thanks they deserved. I just dont think it should turn into the OT post count kind of thing.

Now there's a new term.

As for respect I guess I should hide that post lambasting your support of the Maple Laffs then.

Thanking must only happen in "real" forums. I can't find the place to thank someone.

It was in OT awhile ago but has already disappeared...

Wow! I'm quite happy to get the thanks feature. I quite like it on other boards. If all you're going to do with a post is thank someone you might as well just thank them that way. It saves having to read otherwise rather needless posts.

I think it might also foster people to be a bit more polite and helpful. I know I already have the urge to go try get myself some.

What was the "project feature" about that looks like it's already gone?

It's currently in the Beta Testing forums - which is where CanadianCreed will have seen it.

I'd rather have rep. Thanks seems lame. I already looked at a thread with many thanks and it got boring. Can this feature be disabled?

We should have a "spanks" feature, too!

I don't understand why some people like reputation so much. To me it's something that just screams out to be abused. Even if you disable neg rep, you can still segregate the popular kids from the unpopular making the latter feel unwelcomed and that's certainly not something you'd want to encourage as a business owner. And even with the anonymous option, if you're going to increase or decrease people's apparent worth at least have the guts to do it openly and honestly. I'd hate to think of all the complaints over rep we'd see on the moderators' board if we used it.

I suppose in the end thanks isn't necessarily so much different, but it at least has a completely different connotation.

Oh, thanks. Do you think it is something that could be useful elsewhere here?
