a) No player should have to worry about getting hit with a flying object while playing baseball, but
b) if somebody HAS to be hit with a flying object while playing baseball, why not Carl Everett?

I feel that this is a reasonable compromise and should be agreeable to all parties

If this is true, I kinda feel sorry for the guy. He's got ants in his fridge and he's about to go to jail. He does have a hot wife though which isn't fair. . .so I don't feel sory for him anymore.

Outside of throwing your wallet with a current drivers license in it, what could be dumber than throwing your cell phone?
Oh wait, I wasn't being sarcastic.
But I shouldn't be upset about it either, should I?
This is making me sleepy.

I'd also like to support the activity of throwing the guy who says "Can you hear me now" at Carl Everett, in lieu of a cell phone.

Actually, it wasn't Rizon that threw it.

It was one of his aliases.

If they were really smart, they would stop selling alcohol and start selling pot. It would make everyone mellow, plus with the munchies, people would buy more food from the concessions.

Are there any cases of players seeing these phones thrown on the field and NOT hitting them. I doubt the fans have that good of an aim especially being intoxicated. So far, according to these stories, they're 2 for 2.

Watch cell phones be banned from all ballparks -- especially if it happens again.

If this were true, I'd chuck one onto the field just to get the damm things banned. They've got no place at a ball game. Movie theaters and restaurants too, for that matter.

Cell phones. Bah!

I certainly don't see having cell phones at a baseball park as a problem. However, I do think that it's very stupid to be on the thing the entire game. I mean people in general are always chatting on their cell phones about absolutely nothing wherever you go. It's just a lot easier to do at the ballpark becasue you're sitting there for 3 hours.

Personally, I don't see it as a distraction if someone near you is on the phone. The only time I got distracted at a game was when I thought some drunk guy was talking to me so I turned my head and missed Mark McGwire hit his 3rd HR of the game in '99 I think it was. That was agreat game. It was in Philly and I was at home deciding whether to even go to the game because I had free tickets. So I was watching it at home and as soon as McGwire hit his 2nd, I ran out of the house, hopped on the speedline and got there in plenty of time to almost see his 3rd. Damn drunks.

I would like to say I endorse the constant use of cellphones while driving cars and in public places. The more people do this, the sooner it will become socially acceptable practice and custom. Now get out there and call someone while driving!

Although that would never happen, it would at least spare us TV viewers from watching the idiot sitting behind home plate who, while on the phone to his buddy sitting at home, waves like a moron every time he is in the camera's view. "Dude, can you see me? How about now, see me waving?"
I'll buy the most expensive seat in the house, but not to watch the game. This way I can call all my dorky friends to see if they can spot me sitting behind the plate.

Once again alcohol is the case. This is really getting stupid IMO, and they should ban alcohol. Yes, it ruins the fun for the other 20,000 who drink at games, but hell, let them beat the crap out of the people who caused beer to go away. A lot of people now a days see a baseball game as the ultimate party, to get trashed and do whatever you want. When you have more stories going on about the fans than the players, then you know something is wrong.

But then again, I don't drink anyways so I wouldn't know the joys of alcohol.
