Can't change starter to reliever

Using Commish mode I try to change a starter w/ say a 25 stamina to a reliever. I'm able to change it with the editor but it invariably switches back as soon as I leave that teams screen. Any ideas?

If your not running the team on a permanent basis, the AI GM of that team will use him as he sees fit.

OK, I am confused. I thought you meant you were running the team using the "Act As" instead of signing up for the job.

What in the editor are you changing exactly that makes the pitcher a reliever?

using the "player editor" I change the "position/role" from starting pitcher to reliever on the left hand column right under "bats" and "throws". I just noticed that there is a "set position to" button on the bottom of the screen. Maybe using that function will save my settings.?.

Nope just tried it and my changes weren't saved that way either

What do you mean "weren't saved"? When did they revert?

Is this your minor league affiliate?

Are you later asking the bench coach to come up with the staff?

Rbux,

The "normal" way to do this would be outside of Commish mode, using the "Set Position to" action menu at the bottom of the Player Profile.

However, it should work from the Player Editor as well. Can you tell me, if you change the Position/Role in the editor, and then click on the Profile tab, is his position/role changed, or has it already reverted?

Thanks very much,

Steve

I tried it the "normal" way and the position hasn't changed on me so maybe that did the trick. Of course if I ask the bench coach for my staff the position changes back, which I don't remember happening in previous years of OOTP. Any way of overriding that?

No, unfortunately, in OOTP 10 your staff will change positions as needed to keep your team running smoothly. This is different from OOTP 9, but it was a design decision. In OOTP 10, if you ask your staff to make decisions, they will make decisions and update the positions as appropriate, rather than having a bullpen full of pitchers labeled as "starters".

Alright, for now, it seems like your issue has been resolved. I'm going to go ahead and close this thread. If you'd like to have it reopened, please PM us with a link to the thread you wish to have reopened, and we'd be happy to reopen it.

Thanks,

Steve
