Circular text question

Hello all, I have an old version of Photoshop Elements (and use a newer version of full Photoshop at work). Just wondering the best way to do the circular logos with text that wraps around the circle ... the way i do it in Elements is text warp, but that really skews the text and looks like unprofessional ... wondering if there is a method or a template somewhere that I can use that looks better ... thanks ...

Using Photoshop, I create curved text by by creating a path and placing the text on it. You cannot do this in Elements.. Text Warp is the only thing that you can use for this in Elements, as far as I know..

I use paint.net (which is free) for my logos but I can't get it to do the circular text that looks good. So I use Inkscape (also free) for that and it does a nice job. Here are a couple logos I did using that method.

Sure, feel free to use it. You can probably make it look better than I have.

I borrowed it from one of those logo production companies on the web. It was an example they did for a cheese company.

It's nice because you can change the colors of the top and bottom and the rings to get some variety. I wanted my logos to look similar but not practically identical.

Rocknfire7 provided a tutorial for warping text in Photoshop that might prove useful.

And I love those logos, tombair!

I agree!

I should note that if you are using Photoshop, sometimes the arced text (as in rockinfire's tutorial) still is somewhat warped or stretched. Some fonts are better than others, and sometimes the effect can be helped by playing around with the character spacing, as found on the Character Toolbar/Window panel.
