Running a league since 2002 and in my 27th season myself, I can say that it gets more fun as time passes. I can spend hours looking at my history, and discussing league material with fellow league members. We opened our HOF last season, and that was a lot of fun. I don't really see it as hard work, I see it as a hobby, and perhaps that's why it's been so much fun. Perhaps it's similar for chrisj.

In sheer number of seasons, FOOL is up because we're the fastest fake baseball league in the universe. We're finishing our 47th season tomorrow night.

The Savoy League

The Savoy League began September 3, 2003. We began as an OOTP 5 league and remain as one. The league concept is that it is a historical fiction league. First, that means that players like Roy Hobbs, Luke Gofannon, and Joe Hardy have starred for us over the years. Secondly, it means that I adjust the league stats in an attempt to have the stats mirror the totals of the Major Leagues in that particular season. Our league began in 1938 and is about to enter its 25th season in 1963. I'm kind of looking forward to some pitching dominated seasons.

The league is expanding by two teams to 24 this year. We began with 12. The purpose of the expansion is to allow us to introduce a wild card which the purist in me is nauseated by, but for competitiveness is a great thing. We actually have some openings for the first time in a very long time. If anybody would be interested possibly in an expansion team or in an existing team in the league, they can email me at SavoyCommish@aol.com. The league temporary website (Following an FTP trojan attack on our site) is at The Savoy League! - OOTP5

Also, the league great out of a friendship I struck up with a guy named Matt McCarthey in the Diamond Kings League at www.seamheads.com. The league was actually a pre-OOTP message board draft and has been around since at least OOTP 3. It is currently on OOTP 5. I joined in 2001 and it was already a year or two old.

Yes, I was an original owner when we started with real rosters back in 1969. I left after about 10 years, but came back and have been in now for the last 12 seasons. Have quite a few owners that have been there since 1969, the 2032 World Series is tonight. Is no question the best and most competitve league I have ever been in.

The CBL has certainly had an amazing run this far... and the website is one of the best. All that said...

OOTP 5 is a highlight in that is free... BUT at the same time it MUST keep running that league a very time consuming process. I'm sure it's streamlined going 8+ years... but a I can't imagine the work.

The founder of the CBL (Eric Wedge) was also a founding team manager of the CDBL (Crash Davis Baseball League) that was started by a Michael Steddick, Church, Mark Clark and Tom Miskowski back in 2000. The CDBL has had a few iterations over the years... but rumors are that it's coming back (after a two year hiatus) for the first time since OOTP 6.5.

I'd love to see CDBL come back. I'm in the CBL and Eric and a lot of other CBL owners are in the Savoy League. When we got hit with a trojan attack, Eric was kind enough to host our league on his server.

UMBL Since 2004

The UMBL opened its doors in 2004 with 2004 real rosters. we simmed about 16 seasons.

When we upgraded to OOTP 2007, restared using 2007 rosters. Currently getting ready to start 2012.

So since 2004 we simmed about 22 seasons.

I have been away for about 5 Years but i remember reading about these leagues when I played. I think I even was in the CBL for a season.

I found some old ootp files on an old computer and made me look up the website to see what is going on. Almost wish I had time to play again!

Since Raidergoo started it for me, here's the specifics on eMLB:

Started: July 19, 2000 (As a High Heat League)

Complete Historical Conversion of the DB to OOTP 5 in 2003. 6 month project, only one owner lost during transition! We basically made a fake Lahman db for the league, then used Pierre's utilities to put in the career stats. League worked out great that way!

eMLB is now 8 1/2 years old, and in its 18th season of operation (All human simmed).

eMLB has two powerhouse teams (Toronto & San Francisco - 12 total titles), two semi-elite (Boston & Atlanta), a few contenders, and a storied history.

eMLB likes to be innovative by adding newer players to the league file each year, and once in awhile adds a Hall of Famer, only 6 added over the league's history (You could see Nolan Ryan face Babe Ruth or Ted Williams this season!). We also love doing a Game of the Week where two teams face off on Yuuguu (web sharing program) and match their wits playing a live game against each other. A fun feature indeed!

eMLB is a proud Member League of Total Sports World

I remain committed to the league, despite more RL responsibilites since I first started doing it (Own business, married, one child and another on the way), and I love doing the league.

I'm excited to see all the leagues with such long histories and commitments. It's a labor of love, but one I'm glad to be doing to this day.
