Longest Running OOTP leagues?

Just curious of other long running OOTP leagues out there.

The CBL started over 8 years ago with OOTP2 and is still going strong into our 32nd season of simming. That is something around 80,000 simulated games.

Anyone else been going at it that long?

The Computer Baseball League

CBL Highlights
- OOTP5 engine (free software)
- Outstanding website
- Running with the same commish for 8 years, great league stability
- 32nd season of simming (2031)
- Open bidding Free Agency in the off season via message boards
- League still packed with well known Major League players
- Minor League player renames easily available to owners to name their favorite prospects into yet-unused (in our league) major league stars - recent renames - Colby Rasmus, Ryan Zimmerman, Joba Chamberlain, Cliff Lee, Tim Lincecum, Jon Lester, David Dejesus, Shane Victorino, James McDonald, Matt Joyce, Kila Ka’aihue...
- Unique Japanese Nippon League signings
- Small but meaningful participation award bonuses
- Full League History / Career leaderboards via Catobase.

Positive that Cooperstown Diamond Legends has at least that length of time.

Does this refer to Online Leagues? Or any league at all?

My league (see sig) has been around since 2002, and we're about to start our 27th season, so while not the longest-running, it's still been long and fun .

The NPBL is a "senior league." (Link to league in my sig.)

National Pastime Baseball League
  • documented December 2002 launch
  • 31 seasons
  • stable ownership; fourteen of the owners have been in the league for 16+ seasons
  • all history fully recorded; Catobase going back to first season (in-game 2000)

Perhaps we should create a "Senior League" cerification, and establish criteria, and any league which meets those criteria could be certified as a Senior League.

Too bad this is only for online leagues, because my Continental League began in 1988 on PureStat baseball on a Commodore 64. It's stayed alive for over 20 years on four different simulations/games, and every OOTP version since 2.0.

Cool, and nice name for the league you got there

I guess "Multiplayer" leagues where every (or a great majority of the teams) team has a real person in charge of them.

Whether it is online or a group of friends etc.

I don't think the use of OOTP 5 should be listed as a highlight...maybe a lowlight considering how much the game has changed and improved...

Free is (almost) always a highlight, and in this case it is.

Online leagues are foremost about the participants. Owners make the league, and we are rock solid in that regard.

OOTP5 is a great simulation engine, and, backed up by certain league rules, is wonderful for online leagues. For solo play, yes, there is absolutely no comparison.

Debating versions and what is good or not is certainly not the point of this thread though.

As for the Cooperstown Diamond Legends league - wow! Extremely impressive.

I wouldn't worry about that. It should have been posted in the online leagues forum if it's only about online leagues. Since it was posted here, your league is fair game as far as I'm concerned.

Well done, that's very impressive.

BTI started in 2005 (both in game and in real life). We're starting our 20th season today.

SSBL has also been around for a while, as the league is in its 25th season.

The Canadian Baseball League, which was founded in April 2002 real time, is currently in its 28th season. I honestly don't know how chrisj does it. He founded it almost 7 years ago and has been commishing it ever since. Seems to me even if some leagues last several years, the commish usually burns out a few years into it. Not Chris, though, not yet and not any time soon I don't think.
