Please let us pick a default master.csv file when importing historical players so we don't have to pick master.csv over and over for every player we import. It's a tedious thing that doesn't need to be there.

I think since most of the essential gameplay ideas have been discussed, I'll mention something that may or may not have been discussed:

Ability to have both Home and Road uniforms. I know it's a small thing but it adds a bit of realism to the actual playing of the games. I wouldn't think it would be hard to program but I wouldn't know lol.

But I would primarily love to see the AI get better.

Have you seen OOTP:OU? Piece of cake!

When the current pick is made, it does send out an e-mail.

Getch has tried to incorporate the automation, unfortunately it can't be done yet.

Oh, shoot, you're right! Apparently it does. I need to pay more attention to everything on admin screens. That said, I think many people would prefer if only the next however many up get an email alert, not the entire league.

I see the community creating the different profiles.

On the same note, have the game assign historical manager names during the sim, so Mayo Smith will be manager during 1968 for the Tigers and use his profile.

As usual, Larry has a great idea.

Maybe related to this would be the epidemic of players who sit idel for way too long at not such an advanced age. Put these guys to work somewhere. Bench players, high minors, somewhere. Give them a chance at a comeback. Maybe by a former manager or former coach turned manager or GM would be nice. Is this making sense to anyone?

Track my style

I would like it to track my style of play and create a manager file from that. Then i could incorporate it later on.

I second this. This is a great idea! I get tired of inputing my team strategy every time I start a new league or join a new online league!

I think this may have been mentioned but I'm still holding out hope that we'll see customizable milestones (so that we can base milestones on shorter or longer seasons.)

Nice idea. I'd even love to see a way to import a simple 2 column CSV file. Historical player ID, and then Season Year. Seems like it would save quite a bit of time when you want to import many players, rather than going one by one.

How about a button that would generate a 'baseball card' for a player, something that can be printed out or posted here when we talk about our favorite players.

Everybody has favorite players. Especially those of us who play fictional leagues.

Many of us have "will you look at THIS guy?!?" stories that we like to share on this forum. I always enjoy reading such stories.

It would be nice to have a 'baseball card' type snapshot of such players to post here. The cards would include all the important data: hometown, stats, etc. And they would take up less bandwidth than posting a full page. Those of us who are a certain age remember when baseball cards were a very fun and important part of a boy's life.

I know that there are much more important things that the new OOTP should include. But having the ability to generate baseball cards for our favorite players would be fun.

I agree with Antonin!
This kind of feature would improve the immersion factor so much!
I'd love to have an AI that is actually 'aware' of the ongoing pennant and play off scenarios.....I just played out a World series where one team came from 0-3 down to level at 3-3 and then lose 3-4 in the 9th inning of the 7th game........not a mention anywhere in the 'news'.

OOTP10 Wish List

I would love to see the following posted by a previous poster:
  • Bring agents into the picture. Different agents would have different styles (some would go for top dollar, some for maximum contract length, some might have better relationships with one team vs. another, etc.). A player's choice of agents would become a factor in determining whether you want to extend or trade him.
  • Signing bonus demands for players coming out of high school/college. The very best (and greediest) of these could demand a major league contract. These demands would be known before the draft took place. Again, these players would be represented by agents and teams would have the ability to negotiate the demands down.
  • Allow free agents to be shopped around like they would be in real life. If Team X makes an offer, that player's agent should be on the horn to other interested teams saying, "We've got this offer on the table; can you beat it?" In fact, certain agents should make claims like that even if there really isn't an offer on the table (hello, Scott Boras!).
  • Make it about more than just money. Other factors that should be influencing a player's decision on where to sign could include what role the team promises him, special contract clauses (plane tickets, a personal trainer/interpreter, etc.), the record of the team, the reputation of the team in terms of how they treat players, etc. Some of this is already in the game but isn't communicated as well as it could be.
  • Inject more personality into the negotiation process. We have personality traits in the game; let's put them to greater use. Give us some more dialogue reflecting a player's personality, mood and reactions to offer. Even further, give us multiple choice response options to players (i.e. "Player X says he wants assurances he'll be the starting 1B. Would you like to respond by A.) Promising he'll start at 1B, B.) Offering to start him at a different position, C.) Telling him he'll have to accept a bench role?")
In addition,
  • Improved trade AI.
  • More emphasis on manager and coaching styles. Managers have more impact on a teams performance. Does the managing style and player personalities fit each other?
  • Be able to sign a veteran to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. While your at it, improve spring training component. More realistic and detailed.
  • I am glad to see that the arbitration process is improved and more realistic. That was the only component that Front Office Baseball Manager was ahead of OOTP 9. My opinion
  • Have the ability to ask owner to increase budget in order to make a big trade down the stretch. GM should have more dialogue with owner about different things.
  • Just keep adding things to make it as realistic as possible.
Thanks Marcus for all the enjoyment you provide to your customers!
