I can think of other features, but this one, too, I think, would give me the most bang for my buck.

A lot of the ones that were posted I would have picked. Since they were already named, here's my contribution:

Daisy-Chain Feeder Leagues: I'd like to see high schoolers get fed into the college league rather than forcing all high schoolers to be fed directly to the overall main league.

The other ones that I agree with that others have mentioned include:

*Improving pitching model -
*Improving injury/developmental model
*Improving Financial model
*More dynamic player personality (for free agent signings and team chemistry)

Not sure if it is possible, but some additional variation of the face gen faces would be pretty cool.

Other than that perhaps a tweak to the AI so that they don't yank a starting pitcher 2 outs from a complete game shut out when they have a decent lead and have a fairly low pitch count. I hate looking at a 6-0 shut out box score only to see that the winning pitcher went 8.1 inning and was yanked despite not allowing a runner in the 9th inning.

One last idea would be to add back the ability to let the user decide when to try for the extra base. This would only be on plays that could go either way. See DMB for how to do this feature correctly.

2) Evolving - if two teams are historically battling for the pennant, or have played an inordinate number of close games, rivalries can evolve naturally.

3) User-selected, so you can "force" a rivalry if you have a particular storyline or some other reason.
I agree with this.

More Media!

I personally would like to see more media, especially the following:

1. A weekly magazine (see Shaun Sullivan's PureSim game for an example) that has interesting stats for that week and the season up to that point. For instance, leaders so far that season in ISO (Isolated Power). Longest Current Batting Streaks. Best Bets for the Hall of Fame. This is done in Puresim and is really interesting.

2. A "preview" magazine predicting the team standings before the season.

3. One feature I see in football games that I don't see in baseball is a prediction for each game. It would be interesting to see a game by game matchup screen and prediction of the winner.

Something like these would really enhance the experience of playing through a season IMHO

It'd be great to see fringe HSers not get drafted, go to college and wind up as decent players some day.

I have no idea how possible it is but, the thing that would make me definitely get the next OOTP would be importing accurate minor leagues in historical sims. The main reason I don't play straight historical is because I like things to be accurate, and just can't accept the 1960 Red Sox having a AA affiliate called the Tulsa Buzz or whatever. I want historical games to automatically come in with the correct minor league affiliates already assigned to their teams. This information is everywhere. How hard could it be to put it all into a database that the game uses? (I'll also note that this requires independent minor league teams, etc.)

Okay, wait. I also want to see about accurate draft classes, including players that never made the majors. We have at least the names of every draftee ever, and we have all their minor league stats for the last 13 years (I think) on baseball-reference. Again, it's just a matter of adding a bunch of lines to a standard historical database, right?

stats for draft pool. I'd love to do feeders, but that would just make my universe way too big. having stats (that were relative to ratings in some way of course) for draft picks would help and would be a nice little feature.

I will second this.
Either properly working feeder leagues, or something like what koohead mentions above would be nice.

Thanks for your attention to our concerns Markus!

+1 to all of these

and

I want the history section to basically do everything that Baseball-Reference.com does. More specifically, having the franchise pitcher page look like BRef rather than the jumble it is now, track OPS+, give comparable players by age and overall with similarity scores, show Gamelogs, have a Play Index....

( I quoted Kelric on page 1) I really really want this.

maybe all but 3. There are too many games to try to predict each and every one of them. I think this would lose it's luster fairly quickly, plus it's not a big part of baseball as it is. Pre-season, and post-season predictions would go a lot further in my opinion.

I Would like to see the AI's in game managers not only get all of the basics right like when to bunt, steal, play the IF in,pinch hit,you get the idea(please tell me that this will be fixed Markus),I would love to see them react to the opposing manager's tendencies and adjust accordingly.

Additionally,

1) More detailed scouting and scout interaction.
- Concept of draft board. A drag/drop list of your favorite prospects. Easier to use than the shortlist if it's on the same page as the draft.
- Have scout rank top 100 prospects.
- Have scout suggest multiple players.
- Varied scouting descriptions. Indicate player ceiling and floor (best/worst case estimates).

2) Advanced Stats
- VORP is a good start, but the game needs more advanced stats. This would also make the AI smarter if they can refer to win shares, OPS+, advanced fielding metrics, etc during contract negotiation and trading. With play-by-play data available, this shouldn't be that difficult.

-3) Projections
Vave league wide projections (or on a scout/team basis) before the season. Estimated individual stats, wins etc. It's cool to compare projections to how the season panned out.

Yeah, I can't name just one..But this is pretty much in order of preference.

1) Completely recreate the pitching system - make pitches mean something. Each pitch should be rated for movement, control, velocity, etc. A pitcher's capability to start should be largely based on this. Overall, the pitches should be reflected in a pitcher's performance. For example, pitchers who feature sinkers and cutters should induce more groundballs. There is enough Pitch FX data out there now that this could be objectively modeled. This would likely require a lot of work, though. But it's on my dream list for a future version.
2) Relevant defensive stats, modeled like UZR or +/-. How many runs did a player prevent? More importantly this should actually play a factor in the engine.
3) Manager personalities. There should be more relevance to who the manager of a team is. Let's get some classic La Russa, Piniella, Cox types in the game. They don't necessarily have to have a special influence on a team, but they should be more visible to the average simmer (i.e. through news reports and direct interactions with the user GM). This would greatly enhance fictional leagues.
4) More stats/customizable stats. Either feature some more recent stats like WAR, wOBA, FIP, etc. or allow the user to input formulas to create their own using existing in-game stats. Even if this were implemented in the HTML reports, it would be hugely convenient for many players who rely on external spreadsheets, etc.
5) A bigger presence of the local/national media. The local media should whine and complain about underperforming players & openly criticize trades, signings, etc. They should embrace certain players (perhaps with high loyalty and intelligence ratings) who give back to the "community." This would add more life to the simulations and, in effect, this should affect attendance and media contracts. Also the national media should release some predicted standings that aren't always accurate. A team that's hyped up and falls on its face could see a drastic attendance drop.
EDIT: A couple more...
6) Revamped spring training. Keep the simulations and bring back the development screen where you can decide what you want each player to work on (i.e. plate discipline, fielding, etc.). This was a great feature in the past versions and it was disappointing to see it go. It'd be nice to have some influence (albeit the effect should be relatively minor) on the direction you want the player to go in.
7) A revamped draft system. I'm not convinced the feeder leagues work the way they should. Most college players take too long to develop and typically burn out. It would be nice to bring back signing bonuses and get the little "cards" from the past versions that give pros and cons of each player.
