Isn't it about time for the announcement of OOTP10?

Well, ok, so maybe I am pushing things a little here. We in Madison are getting pounded (again!) with snow today, apparently aiming break our all-time record of 100+ inches last year. So maybe I'm distracted and thinking of better times ahead.

But seriously, when are we going to get that first hint of what's going to be in OOTP10? Speaking just for myself, I feel more anxious to hear about this edition than any other in recent memory. It seems to me that scouting was given an excellent facelift in version 9 -- what is on the table this time around? My own wish list would include some movement towards a more sophisticated and histrorically flexible financial model (read: an effective environment for the reserve rule), as a step toward re-creating more realistic baseball universes of the past. Deadringer has also reminded us that the way the game handles pitcher remains one of OOTP's weak points. And there has been a lot of talk about the need to provide a better set-up for PbP and news.

So . . .what's it going to be? Or am I just going to have to go out and shovel snow.

I live in Poynette, WI, and I'm about to go out and shovel snow. I'll let you shovel for me, though, if you've got nothing better to do!

74 degrees with a light breeze out of the south here in Houston. I can still get in 9 holes this afternoon.

Not a chance of snow.

Sorry, I couldn't resist

Well, since there's not probably going to be any official announcement of OOTP10 in response to this, let's talk about the weather.

Honestly, I take winters here as the reasonable price to be paid for not having to endure the kind of hot and humid 4 to 5 months you people in Houston have to put up with.

(Besides -- I got my wife to do the shoveling this afternoon. )

The last changes to OOTP9 have probably just been made, and the release date of OOTP10 is probably about half a year away, so we are about to pass the point after which OOTP Developments will be focused on OOTP10 entirely.

I hear you, but I've got to tell you I think it's partly a "where you grew up" thing, because just like you and our summer's (which don't bother me a bit), I simply couldn't tolerate your winters.

That, and the likelihood that this thread prompts an announcement regarding version 10 and you and I agreeing about what makes good weather are about the same

I just hope they allow us to set injury frequencies so we can fix them ourselves. That one thing would make my fellow online leaugers and I so happy.

Indeed!

I know it's too early for the announcemen, as satchel said. But I am really, really curious to know what Markus is planning for it.

I wonder if OOTP nomenclature will get an update with it hitting version ten. That is, just as Adobe restarted its naming system after Photoshop 7 (switching to CS, short for Creative Suite, and is now at CS4, which would have been version 11 under the old naming method), and Corel started using Roman numeral X for its versions after CorelDRAW 12 (with the next version becoming X3 and the current version being X4), will OOTP get a change?

We got a whopping 8.5 inches in Oregon, WI today. Where I work in Madison, we only got a couple of inches. I had to park on the street and shovel out my driveway before I could park my car in the garage. Gotta love winter.

Has the OOTP10 beta started yet?

Yeah, let's add injuries to the priority list. It's time for a more sophisticated model.

PS - Even a hint of snow here, which is very unusual, and man is it cold.

I am still around. Lurking mostly thee days as there is not much to do where OOTP is concerned. WoW is filling my gaming time these days. I am looking forward to seeing what OOTP10 is going to bring to the table.
