OOTP online league = complicated?

Is it very fiddly to run an OOTP online league? I ask because I’ve seen a league I joined collapse recently because there were some odd roster moves happening that seemed to have been driven by the game that the commish was having to correct.

I run a FOF league and I have to import file, run the turn, make trades sometimes, export and that’s it. OOTP looks to be more involved than that. Am I wrong?

I didn't find it overly complicated when I did it. But that was several versions ago.

Ditto here.

I'd like to say it isn't very complicated with OOTP9 and I figure it may be a fair bit easier with all the stuff they've added for commishes, but I can't say for sure as I haven't commished since OOTP6.5. There are more features overall though which I'm sure complicates things despite what they've added for commissioners.

I think the problem may be that some people try to run leagues and they're just not that skilled with computers. I don't think you really have to be a whiz, but I do think you need to be fairly comfortable with them. If someone is confused by just playing the game, they probably shouldn't try to commish a league until they are comfortable with the game.

You mentioned rosters. It may simply just be a problem with those rosters.

Running the league is simple. Getting it set up correctly at the beginning takes work.

Yeah, I'd say being technologically savvy is most important. From the standpoint of playing the game, if you can run a solo league, you can run an online league. But you need webspace and an FTP server, you need to put together .zip files for the owners that aren't 200 MB (which involves excluding a lot of nonessential files from the archive), you're going to need to help owners with technical problems, you're probably going to want to set up a league message board. That aspect of it is so much more complicated that actually running sims.

Of course there are always people around here to help with any of these problems.
