Klitschko-Peter Saturday Night?

Peter Vs. Klitschko. Is there anyway to watch this fight live on the internet?

Not much interest in this one it doesn't seem - Both men seem past their best....and Peter doesn't even look that fit in photo's I've seen of him.

I"ll take Klitschko by default. When he was in his prime, he was much better all around boxer than Peter. I have to work so I won't be watching it.

Pathetic effort by Peter. Just pathetic.
Vitali wins when Sam quits after round eight. Two judges had it 80-72 and one 79-73. Al Bernstein found it hard to believe someone thought Peter won a round (me too).

It looks like the dream of the Klitschko brothers of both holding the title has come to pass. Two brothers simultaneously holding titles. Even in the age of Alphabet titles, you have to feel at least a little happy for them. From what I've read, Peter wasn't even in the fight. So where does that leave the division? It's hard to imagine most of the English speaking world rallying around Russian Heavyweights. It's great news for Russia, though. They own the Heavyweight division. The Russian people must be very proud of what their fighters are accomplishing.

Ukraine is not part of Russia anymore.

Well, at least for now...

Right, and while the Ukraine was part of the USSR Stalin essentially destroyed it. It used to have some of the best farmland in the world but after Stalin's destruction of the kulaks all that went away. Calling the Ukraine part of Russia is a little like calling Mexico part of Spain.

Anyway, worst possible outcome. Well, I'm glad the fight actually happened, so I guess not. Anyway, it's now clear that the Klitschko brothers are the class of the heavyweight division, and it's just as clear that the two will never, ever fight. To make matters worse, the more boring one holds the bigger alphabet titles. One wonders if Vitaly will fight again or if this was just a one-off (by design or otherwise). Aside from that, I feel like we're banking on David Haye or an improvement by Povetkin before this division becomes interesting again.

I wouldn't bet on Haye doing much. I think he is all mouth and no chin. It isn't a given that he gets past Barrett. I'm not on board with Arreola any longer either. He gets hit too much and has been out of shape too many times. Maybe John Ruiz gets another shot? I would like to see Meehan or Bidenko get a shot. I think both are deserving.

Just watched most of the fight on Youtube. Did Peter throw more than two punches to the body during the entire fight? Did he land more than two punches in a round? He looked absolutely hopeless in there. It was a sparring session for old Klitschko. Seemed Klitschko landed flush a dozen times in every round, but couldn't knock Peter down. Seemed more like Peter got tired and his trainers stopped it before he got hurt.

Who was the young "Mafia" guy standing alongside Peter when Klitschko was talking to him at the end?

Yes, that's true, but many English speaking folks see these heavyweights as "Ivan Drago's" minus the steroids. It's a stereotype/perception.

Boy, HW division is bad right now -

As I mentioned before the fight......Peter looked just awful in any training vids I saw of him......and looked out of shape at the weigh-in's....

Peter is vastly overrated.....always has been......... He's a 7 rated tops.......Has a solid chin and some power (but not huge power even).

Peter was a disappointment. He was very sluggish and didn't taking advantage of Klitscho 4 year layoff without a tuneup. He really shamed the heavyweight division more.

Jersey Jim...you every go to any of the amateur fights when they happen in your area? I fought in your area years ago.

I was surprised to see (I'm not sure why) that Antonio Tarver's loss last night received more coverage than Klitschkko-Peters. Vitali Klitschko is sort of linked to the Lennox Lewis era, so maybe it will bring so renewed interest back into the Heavyweight division.

I agree. Peter looked awful. He talked the talk before the fight, but he fought like a bum. I guess he felt Klitschko's power early and took almost zero chances after that.

I still believe if the Klitschko brothers were from anywhere in North America, the UK, Australia, etc. - they'd be the biggest thing in boxing and possibly front page news in each of the countries I've mentioned.

They do great in Germany, however, and have all the support they need there, so the "need" for crossover appeal isn't really necessary. I have a few friends living in Germany and they love it there. They have a little extra, too, which helps anywhere...

Do you remember an old guy named Jim Smith? He was a school teacher who fought there when he was about 60 years old against another ex-fighter out of Pennsylvania?

Hillside, NJ, I haven't been there in years!

Trenton is one of the nicer parts of NJ. At least, it was. I haven't been there in a long, long time.

I have an aunt and uncle near Mt. Holly, NJ. I lived in Trenton for a few years while I was stationed at McGuire AFB. There was alot to do around Trenton.

Peter wasn't in good enough shape to get inside and work the body. Too much blubber.
