My MVP's rating are tanking!?!?!

I drafted an Outfielder named Michael Wigley that spent a year and a half in the minors and joined the team in september hitting hrs abd clutch hits.

In his first full year he batted .352 and had 52 HRs which led MLB and he was MVP.

I am in comissioner mode and checked his stats.

His Power was 179 out of a potential 189 at the end of the season.

At the all-star break of the next year he has 6 HRs. I checked his stats and his power is now 136 out of a potential 146! He has had no injuries.

He exceeded expectations by hitting 52 so why would he now go down in ratings????

happens all the time.. just random drops. he is still very powerful though

did you just award him a lucrative, multi-year contract?
If so, I would say that everything is WAD.

Nope, he is still making minimum $390k.

I am not happy about the drop.

From 52 HRs to a 6 in 1/2 a season.

The fans may wonder if he was juicing!?!?!?!

Thats pretty harsh,but in a way its kinda cool also because it shows you that guys can have one amazing season where everything goes right for them and then come down to their actual level of talent.For your player it just happened to be his rookie season.Thats how I see it anyway.

Bill Hall of the Brewers is another one-season wonder (well, two maybe)
He's one good reason the Brewers are going to fall to the Phillies, CC Sabathis or no.

I had the same thing happen with one of my catchers. He hit over.300 with 30+ hr's his first two seasons with a overall rating in the 70's.

He went on the DL the next season and 3 years later at the age of 28 he is in the minors with a rating of 23. Not a career ending injury but an injury that he could never comeback from. Good thing I did not lock him up to a longterm contract before he got hurt.

I should just release him but I cant do it, he is still only 28.

Dropo was also a GREAT basketball player at UConn.

Bob Hamlin for the royals comes to mind for me. While he didn't hit 52 homers in his rookie year, he did hit in the mid to upper 20s as I recall then the strike hit, he gained 50 lbs in the off-season, then sucked in the majors for a year or 2 more before doing who knows what.

Update on my catcher mentioned above. At the age of 31 he returned to the majors for a short time and went 2 for 37 with 2 hr's. I still kept him around at AAA after that.

Then at age 33 because of injuries he was forced back in to my starting lineup for about 100 games. He hit .265 with 13hr's and 57 rbi's and retired at the end of the season.

It's interesting that he had his best year with each team he was with the first year he was with them, excluding his call-up year with the Sox.
