The best graphical baseball game. At night I sleep and dream of MLB The Show on my PS3 with an OOTP engine.

I was just looking at videos on YouTube about how to do that. I think I'm ready to finally put Yellow Dog Linux on my PS3 this weekend.

I could not get OOTP to load onto my PS3
Me and my cousin worked at it for about two hours and just couldn't get it to run
I think our problem was finding the proper emulation software
After we solved that Sony has put restrictions on what the RSX graphics card can do and run PC software looks to be one of the restricted things

Too bad

How about next time you just leave the personal shots out?

I was running OOTP9 on Linux all beta with no issues except for a very few minor one such as not being able to open a report in an external browser.

Last I checked FTP export still didn't work right but since I just play solo Ubuntu and OOTP are great for me.

So as long as you use the internal browser it's 100%?

I was wondering how you would get around e-Licesne, but there's obviously a way.

Yeah the internal browser works fine, just can't print from it. For that I just use the write to disk function and open it in firefox.

e-License works just as it does in windows. Nothing special needed at all.

That's very good news.

After I do that it works just fine.
I must admit that I haven't tried running OOTP with a full compiz-fusion candied-out desktop, I run Openbox on top of a Ubuntu command-line install...I prefer not to have all the Gnome overhead. I do run with a compositing manager (xcompmgr), and I've used transset to make the OOTP window transparent before, but I don't really enjoy playing with it that way.

I never use the external browser, so that's not a problem. And, yeah, I never had even the slightest hiccup with eLicense, either licensing or unlicensing.

Easy killer. It was a joke. It wasn't like I said something about your family or something.

OOTP 8 in Ubuntu

I having a reoccuring crash with OOTP 8 / Hardy Heron / Wine 1.0.

If I try to click into a player's detail screens from the minor league report, the game crashes. I can do it just fine for major leaguers from the batting or pitching reports, it seems to be isolated to the minor league report. I ran OOTP in trace mode but the log file didn't produce anything particularly useful. I saw some errors related to FaceGen so I turned FaceGen off but the crash still happens the same way.

Any ideas?

Getting ready to give this a spin on my laptop with Fedora 9. I finally got sick of the slow piece of you know what that Vista is and blew it away..ha I have to use MS office for Visio for work, but I have an XP VMWare installation for that, I'm hoping OOTP will work just with Wine so as not to use the VM on it.

How did you guys get facegen to work? According to the Wine DB, it says it's platinum, which would mean everything works, and the screenshot shows facegen pics, but I can't get facegen to work. When I have it on normal mode and try to generate a face, it just shows the facegen background but no person. Other than that, everything works fine, although the in-game add-on downloading seems extremely slow compared to my normal linux-native downloading speed.

I'm using Fedora 9 with wine-1.0.1. I'm runnig on a 64-bit cpu.

When I set facegen to troubleshooting mode 1. The game doesn't even give me facegen options and says "Facegen not initialized" in the player/coach pic settings screen.

I haven't replied lately on this but I wasn't able to get Facegen to work either. For me using Fedora 9, & I tried it on Ubuntu 8.04 as well, normal mode doesn't give me anything, troubleshooting mode 1 gives me nothing, and troubleshooting mode 2 gives me the background with no face as you describe.

I run a windows 2000 with Virtualbox on the same laptop so i just installed it there and all works fine and dandy.

Other then facegen I had no problems in Linux with the game however.

Thumbs up My installation works too!

No problems under Ubuntu for me! It's even easier than OOTP 8; I had no issues with having to remap the data path. I just installed the game, set facegen to "troubleshooting mode 1", and ran it. Sound works, facegen works, and I'm running with full Compiz Fusion glory. External browser doesn't work, but that's no surprise, and help doesn't seem to be functional.

What version is your wine? Also, are you using any DLL overrides? (run winecfg and click on Libraries tab)

Wine 0.9.59, no DLL overrides.

I see that Ubuntu is suggesting that I install Wine 1.0, though... I think I'm going to, as I've never had any problems running OOTP.

I'm using troubleshooting mode 1, and it works for me. What kind of video card does your laptop have? If's it's an ATI card, that could be the issue - form what I've seen ATI cards tend to be a little flakier on Linux than Nvidia ones.

I'm actually using Wine 1.1.1 now, you can get a .deb file direct from the Wine folks. I'm not using any DLL overrides, either.
