Heh. Yeah. They were originally the Oklahoma Tornados and the Carolina Cougars. I couldn't find city names to put on the jerseys, so I changed the team names, apparently after I had already set those logos up. At some point I'll rename them in the QS file and re-upload it. But for now, changing the names or re-loading the logos will do the trick.

One thing I've done that, in my mind, improves the league, is imported a schedule from the mid 1970's into the game. One, it gets rid of the same off day for every team, and two, that was my favorite all time MLB schedule, where every team played in division rivals 18 times, and the other division in their league, they played 12 times. The schedule is already in game, so you don't have to d/l anything. I also generated a new schedule for the the rookie league to coincide with a June 15th draft. And I enabled ghost players. Just added my own little touches to the league. Did anyone do any of their own personal touches?
Thanks to skydog for a great fictional league! Last edited by akw4572; 06-29-2008 at 08:39 AM. |

SkyDog, this looks absolutely splendid, and I'll be using it for my solo 9 league once I have time to get that going.

How was the aging/development in the league? Did you leave everything at default, and is that what you'd recommend?

Skydog,
Is the runners speed correct on this? If not is the SB success rate correct? I seem to have a very high success rate. |

Yup. It should be right around 69% if you entered them correctly. If you happen to have a small league, a few burners in it could skew the overall average upward, of course.

These are the leaders of a 107 year sim only league with 56 teams. Perhaps we need a bit more offense. I should mention that aging modifiers were set to .6

That's less offense than I'm getting. Doing just about any modification will change statistical output. It's a definite that messing around with dev/aging does.

Skydog, do you plan on doing any testing with your league totals and RonCo's development/aging modifiers?

Good question akw, I was about to ask the same thing.

Nah. With offense being lower in my settings, I have no interest in playing with career leaders as low as they would be using those settings.

I would have guessed that making players age slower would mean higher career stats?? Thats really counter-intuitive.

FYI - here are the leaderboards from a 100-year sim using SkyDog's statistic settings, with no change to the player development modifiers. Twenty-four teams with five levels of minors each.
I'm very happy with these results. Career HR leader is 570, single season is 57. More SBs, fewer strikeouts, more CG and SHO and pitcher endurance in general. If anything, the problem I'm seeing is that pitchers aren't getting injured enough (on normal injury settings). Too many SPs go their entire career with only one or two DTD injuries, and that pushes their career stats a bit too high, leading to the plethora of 300-game-winners you can see here. But that isn't due to SkyDog's settings, and I can certainly live with it.

Okay, let me get this straight because I am not too bright. If I want accurate stats like Skydog is getting I shouldn't play around with the age modifiers. But, if I want players to age more realistically I shouldn't use Skydogs settings. In other words, is it the case that using them together drives down the offensive output too much and, therefore, one has to make a choice?

SkyDog,
I am very interested in using your Quick Start league. Could you give specific instructions on everything we need to do to get a new league started with your download? What year do we need to start it at? What financial settings do we need to tweak? Do we need a slary cap? How about Cash Maximums? I just want to get the best results like you have and make my league look realistic. A small step-by-step post would be great! Maybe it already exists and I've missed it. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks for your time! - manooly |

OK, that easy huh? Sorry! I wasn't sure if I needed to tweak anything else before starting. Thanks!

I'm just curious as to how people are enjoying the Quickstart league supplied by SkyDog. I'm thinking of starting my new league with it. What year does it start in? Anything else I should be made aware of? Just curious.
Thanks! - manooly |

I love everything about it. I've been playing every night since he released it. Very realistic numbers. Very balanced.

I'm working on a basic set of parks for this set. I have never done any graphic work at all, and am using a trial software. Anyone interested? I'm using the ballpark makers available in the mod section, and putting the team logo in the background. In the game it'll give you dimensions of each wall.
