OOTP9 / OOTP8 / OOTP7 and Online Leagues

With the impending release I would like to know what versions are going to be able to work with what for multiplayer leagues. Will we be able to have the Commish run OOTP9 and teams be able to be ran with OOTP7 and OOTP8, or are going to all have to have OOTP9?

OOTP 9 will require all leagues to be OOTP 9. No backwards compatibility.

I always think of OOTP7 as OOTP2006.

I'm pretty sure no versions, not even 6.5, have been online league backwards compatible.

OOTP2006 was what should have been OOTP7, OOTP8 was OOTP2007 under a different name.

That being said, I don't intend to fire a weapon in your direction.

OOTP8 & 2007 are compatible with each other, as (IIRC) were 6.5 and 6.1x. Granted, both of those were kind of "half-version" changes, but...

Shoot, you're right about the first. I forgot about that. Maybe that's why Dan was asking.

Not so about the second as far as I know though. The newsletter said it was backwards compatible converting wise, but not for online leagues. I also remember that being a big bone of contention because a lot of people like myself felt that the features in 6.5 didn't warrant the extra cost, but if your league converted and you wanted to stay in it then you had to get it.

Yeah that's basically why I was asking. We just converted to OOTP2008. Which means it's going to be a tough sell to get guys to now convert over to OOTP9. Oh well. No worries.

Thanks!
