This is my first OOTP comment. I have been playing OOTP for about 4 years now and really enjoy the game. In the past, I have played Strat-O-Matic, Earl Weaver, Tony LaRusso, High Heat, and Baseball Mogul. My favorite game is High Heat 2002. After that they really "jumped the shark". To me, a great baseball simulation is a combination of sights, sounds and AI. I will supply my own hot dogs with plenty of mustard. In OOTP, I am a solo player and predominately play fictional Japanese leagues. Although I have experimented with many other formats including my old high school league - the Michigan Mega Conference (MMC). I have been reading the promotional email about OOTP 9 and I am a little disappointed. Most of what I have read was about the changes to historical leagues, skins and the scouting system. I don't play historical leagues much and I turn off the scouting system in my fictional leagues since they appeared to be more of a hindrance than a help. I once read an OOTP forum comment that "all leagues are fictional". I agree and like to start the way. Since I have been playing OOTP, the biggest and best improve to this simulation has been FaceGen. I think to substantial move forward, OOTP must improve graphics. This would include providing the latest version of FaceGen and the option to morph png files - like for MLB players. I do plan to pre-order OOTP 9 without these features but I will certainly be looking for these enhancements in OOTP 10. I look forward to any and all comments.

Welcome to the forums, kehowey. I quoted only this portion of your post because I got the impression that you had not seen all four of the OOTP 9 newsletters that have been released to date.

From your comments above, for example, I would bet that you missed the third one that announced these two new features of a graphical nature:

OOTP uses Retrosheet ball locations to calculate where the ball is hit once put in play. OOTP 9 will allow you to set these exact locations in the ballpark editor so it matches the ballpark image used. OOTP 9 introduces a feature that is great for solo players and even better for online league participants. The game now allows you to store complete game replays either automatically (using similar setting like box scores, i.e. just human teams, human leagues etc.) or manually. These replay files include the complete play-by-play, ball locations for the animation and sound effects. The replays are shown in a screen similar to the broadcast game screen, so you can re-live all those exciting moments. Storing replays manually works as well, and allows you to share your greatest games with the community. Replay files even include the final box scores, so after watching a game that you got from a friend you can see the final numbers easily.

Plus, you do not mention the reintroduction of background sound in OOTP 9. Taken together, I would say these improvements should have piqued your interest in this upcoming version.

I preordered about a month and a half ago, and with the release date coming up, I realized I never got an email with an order number or anything like that.

Should we have gotten one?
