Thanks for the link. I figured I wasn't the only one to have seen it. But for the sake of a thread it was worth making sure.
I don't get what your point is KQ. Are you asking what I think? If so, the general impression I've gotten is that the Red Wings are still his baby where as the Tigers operations are being run by his daughter I think. I just believe if he's not that bothered they'd be in the hands of someone willing to invest in them. I believe they're on the right track regardless by putting Dombrowksi in charge and legitimately rebuilding. It's ridiculous it's taken this long though. They KNEW they were building a cavern of a ball park...so instead of planning for the future in ADVANCE of that and drafting live arms and speed (for defense and on the basepaths) they get Gonzalez and the likes of Dean Palmer. What a disaster. Now the team is 3 years behind the development curve. -Nick

Releasing Easley is a prime example of how Illitch is trying to make the Tigers better. It is going to take time to get rid of all the worthless contracts still on the books (Higgy, Palmer, Young . . .)
I see a steady increase in wins coming over the next 3 years. Not contending for a crown, but an extra 10-15 wins a season for a few years and the Tigers will be respectable. |

yeah, Scott Downs ended up as a draftee too. I'm not sure how it happened. They were import errors and were deleted, so I'm not sure why they ended up in the draft.

Again, i don't think that has much to do with Illitch. I don't see that being a + in his column. Other than hiring Dombrowski. If that was the case (that he's so involved) then it's just as much is fault for putting the absurd contracts on the book for players that didn't fit the mold of Comerica Park (which everyone knew was coming).
Regardless, thanks for the info Gforce (what this thread was about) and I'll hope that whoever owns the Tigers they continue to put better people in management positions and when they finally get talent he ponies up for them when it's time. I won't hold my breath though. -Nick
