So we're up to four guys who've won but suffered a cut in their bouts. Nice win for Galaxy as outside of the first he was in complete control.

Jose Medel, Mexico, Pro Debut vs Kid Azteca, Mexico, Pro Debut

Neither fighter's managers did them any favors by scheduling these opponents for their pro debuts. Both fighters are highly regarded and this should be a wonderful fight to watch. Both fighters trade punches from a distance, 9-8, Medel in the 1st round. The Kid comes back and wins the 2nd, 9-5. There are no clinches to be had in this fight as both boxers stay at center ring and trade shots, 11-4, Medel in the 4th. Medel is the aggressor but Azteca does a good job of counterpunching, 15-12, in the 5th. 20-6, all Medel in the 6th. Big 8th for Medel, 21-2, as Azteca goes southpaw but get clobbered in doing so. Medel is starting to dominate the fight as he takes the 9th and 10th convicingly, wait, a brutal hook by Kid Azteca puts Medel on his back at the end of the 10th. This sudden shot came out of nowhere and surprised everyone. Medel doesnt look good and he will not be able to get up and make it to the next round. The fight is over here at the end of the 10th, as Kid Azteca scores a stunning come from behind knockout victory!

Winner: Azteca
Result: (KO10)
Cards: 88-83, on all three cards in favor of Medel
Punch stats: 345-524, 65.8% Medel - 180-507, 35.5% Azteca

Yes, and the news gets even worse as Medel is leading on all cards as he gets KTFO with no time remaining on the clock in the 10th!

[37] Stanley Ketchel, USA, 10-0-0 (10) vs [45] Floyd Patterson, USA, 21-4-0 (17)

Ketchel makes his debut under the management of Bear's Unstable and this will mark his first fight since entering the world rankings after starting off his remarkable career at 10-0 with 10 knockouts! Ketchel has been inactive due to business decisions. Ketchel lands a bomb to start off the 1st round and Patterson is down. Ketchel continues to pressure Patterson and puts him down again with around a minute left. Patterson makes it to his feet but is unable to respond to the referee and the fight is over here in the 1st round!

Winner: Ketchel
Result: (TKO1)
Cards: N/A
Punch stats: 6-6, 100% Patterson - 39-79, 49.4% Ketchel

Sonny Liston, USA, 21-3-0 (21) vs Tommy Gomez, USA, 16-1-0 (16)

Tampa Tommy Gomez takes on Sonny "The Bear" Liston in what should be a slugfest. Both fighters have a combined total of 37 wins with all of those wins coming by way of knockout. Gomez keeps the 4th round close after losing the first three rounds by a wide margin. Liston doubles up to the body and puts Gomez down on the canvas in the 5th. A big left hook puts Gomez down for the second time and Gomez is unable to get up. The fight ends with no time left on the clock at the end of the fifth round.

Winner: Liston
Result: (KO5)
Cards: 40-36, on all three cards in favor of Liston
Punch stats: 47-67, 70.1% Gomez - 171-310, 55.2% Liston

Man, we went 2-3, with one of the winners getting cut, last month for by far our worse month ever. Plus, my two newest fighters were stopped in fights they were easily winning. The smart thing to do would be to take it easy this month and book easy winnable fights to rebound from last month but that ain't my style so Wilde will be taking on Maurice Hope in June.

Not disappointing the fans as usual. Had to chuckle when I saw it, but again, love the pick!

NLP and Calzaghe...

You are going to have to discuss what you want to do with Calzaghe's immediate future.

Right now, last week of May 1955, Calzaghe, 20-0-0 (17) is World Ranked #5, EBU Champion, CBC Champion. He has a mandatory EBU defense coming up next month, most likely against Ivan Drago. However, do you want to take that title defense or wait for a world title shot which he would be either 1st or 2nd in line for (besides Mike Tyson). If Calzaghe were to accept a fight for a world title, he would have to relinquish his two regional belts. If he were to make the mandatory EBU defense and lose, that would drop him down for a world title shot. Just some info for you to think about.

Let's wait for the world title shot. The EBU title is all nice and so but everybody knows that there are bigger and more important belts.
