Of course this does bring to mind a league I am in which the Commissioner, an otherwise well-known and respected OOTP community member, disappeared altogether from all of his online endeavors very suddenly. It makes you wonder what happened.

I guess I should give my phone number to a couple USBA team owners in case I am ever in a coma, my wife can inform the league when they call looking for me.

At least the guy made some effort to close it up, albeit insulting to the owners. The first online league I was in just stopped, about a month into the third season. The commish (Ian Bannistre, if anyone knows him) just disappeared, like Keyser friggin Soze.

I still wonder what happened to him. He was a great commish, seemed very excited about the league, etc.

Something similar happend to the BBL. The commissioner left the league without a trace, leaving a bunch of GMs wondering. We pretty much knew that the league was dead, even though we did want the league to contiune. It would be best to say you don't wanna run the league anymore, the let someone else run the league and the server. It just is not fair for GMs who put time into leagues and gets nothing in return

league

You don’t even have to leave the league on the same server, do you? Passing complete control of a league over to someone else is as simple as giving them the Commish password, isn’t it?

I suppose transferring the HTML and webpages does take some work, if the league preserves the same website. Giving the commish password to one or two trusted people seems like an easy way to at least give the league a chance to live on without its original commissioner.

Damn that sux... Luckily I don't think the league I'm in (my first one) that will happen...If it did, I probably would give up on online as one of those great ideas in principles but that will never work out...

I am lucky

My three leagues are with great commissioners. Never a missed sim and always an updated web site.

Thanks Andy, Chris , and Jason.

You and the livnlegend are talking about the same guy. Were you in the PSBL JML? Or did Ian completely dissapear from 2 leagues?

That was a really wierd ending as he never responded to any of the posts or e-mails expressing concern for him from the league.

Odd.

What's sad is that if a commissioner was killed in an accident or something and disappeared without a trace would you believe it? That being said, this story is a total crock.

If anyone is looking for a new league, please check us out at http://teamrebels.com/Leagueplay/index.html

Or email me at william4192@yahoo.com

You will not have to worry about stupid (yet funny) things like this.

The thing that tipped me off when I read it was that the guy checked out the car, and then remembered to check the commish out to see if he was ok? Yeah, right. If you are in an accident and somebody else was in the car, you would not check to see if the car was ok and almost forget that there was somebody else in the car. I was in that league. Kind of a shame I wasted my time on the draft for that league. If anyone from the league is reading this, I would be willing to add you to my league's waiting list. My league will be drafting soon, but it is currently full. I have a small waiting list.

Thanks

And how does he knows it is a '89 Pinto? Why not an '88 Pinto?

No. It was the IBL I think. International Bball League. Set in the 50's, fictional, with random, mostly average major leaguers coming over. Really cool concept, I thought.

So this guy bailed on more than one league? Part of me was pissed, but part of me wondered if something tragic happened to him. Like I said, he was enthusiastic about the league.

No I am speaking of Joe Moore.
Mark Eschen was another great Commish but he put closure on the PSBL

Yeah, it was the IBL. Sorry.

I've been in so many folded leagues, I get them confused. BTW, the IBL was shaping up to be a really nice league when Ian the commish vanished.

You do realize, of course, that this was the single greatest league ever.
