Beware of Leagues Like This (KOBL)

A few weeks ago this guy posted to this forum about starting a new league with 2002 rosters and an initial draft. There was a good response and the league started with two nights of a live draft and everything was going great. We got to July 1st in our first season and then all of a sudden there were two missed sim periods with no word from the commish. Then the league's front page (http://www.kobl03.netfirms.com) shows the following which I am posting below as well as placing a link ito n case it gets taken down. Now if he really did get into an accident, I can understand. But the following seems more of a joke than reality and a lame excuse to shut down a league that just started a few weeks ago. If you are out there commish, please give a real reason.

"For anyone wondering why the fantasy baseball games were not simulated Tuesday, March 18, 2003, there is a legitimate reason. The Commissioner and I were driving down the highway in his Volvo. As we were traveling, some moron in an '89 Pinto swerved into our lane and swiped us right into the median. Not being too badly hurt, I looked at the car and it was in awful condition. Then I remembered about the Commissioner, and I ran to check on him. His last words to me were: "Shut down the Fantasy Baseball League"; he didn't care about anything else. I suffered minor cuts and bruises, but the Commissioner slipped into a coma. Before the ambulance got there, the Commissioner of this league was unconscious. Best of luck on the recovery of the Commissioner. Participants in the league, there is no more league. I am told the Commissioner will pull through within the week, but with a high and risky chance of amnesia. The odds of him remembering this are slim to none. Nonetheless, it was good while it lasted and no champion has been declared for this league. Maybe sooner more than later, the Commissioner will be back among his beloved money, expensive cars, and multiple lady friends."

Kamego, the KOBL commish is 17 and his AOL nick is "pieenorme". Seems his recovery is going well as he is online at the moment.

Definitely a fake story. Volvos are supposed to be the safest cars in the world. If those guys were really in a Volvo they wouldn't have been injured :-)

yeah, definitely fake. but it makes me mad because a lot of people put time into this league. and then to just stop it like that with a joke for a reason. and he blocked everyone from the league on AIM. and i just IM'd him with a different screenname and he blocked that too. i would advise everyone to stay away from this loser. he can't even own up to what he did.

After getting involved in an accident with an 18 wheeler, I found myself lying on the ground almost dying... a gentlemen came up to me and asked if I needed anything. I responded... yo quiero taco bell...

Sounded more like a movie if you ask me...

I just feel sorry for the owners. There would have been better ways to quit the league, at least try to hand it over to someone or something. Quitting honestly would cause some hard feelings but not as many as a cock-and-bull story.

I was in a league that shut down with a lame reason why. I think it was around the lines of "He was found dead in his house." Next day, I see him online, I IM him, and he just started talking bull**** to me...
