I'm starting to wonder if the Phillies don't run a "strikeout on purpose on a wild pitch" drill in practice.

Ack.

Also, this means that Moyer would be the starter on Sunday if things go down to the final day. It's amazing what Moyer has done this year at his age and the fact that he has absorbed a fair number of innings has been vital in the injury filled season, but you pretty well know he's not too likely to hold the other team down to just a couple of runs.

Needs some help again, and the Mets lost again.

If I were a Phillies fan, I'd be extremely happy with the team either way and very hopeful about next season. If the Phillies hadn't dealt with so many injuries, I think they definitely would have taken the NL East. If they can stay healthy next year, this team will be a monster.

1 game in back of the Padres and the Mets. Tied with the Colorado where-the-hell-did-they-come-from Rockies. 4 games to go. Need to win at least 3 of those, and hope that either the Mets or the Padres split their final 4. I'd prefer to see the Mets at this point because the Rockies are making everything messy.

Thankfully the Phillies are at home for a game against the Braves and 3 against the Nats, which should give them an advantage. The Padres are finishing with 4 games in Milwaukee.

The Mets are really doing everything they can to lose the division. I just hope we can take advantage of it.

Awesome.

As a side note, congratulations to Ryan Howard for his spectacular achievement.

HOly crap. That would be awesome if New York was left out of the playoffs.

Padres, Mets, Phils all fighting over two spots and tied right now. Woot.

Well Padres are still ahead, and don't forget about the Rockies who are about to match up starting tomorrow with the Diamondbacks.

Utterly amazing. I was stunned when the Phils swept the Mets in that home series some time back, closing the gap to 2 games I think, but then falling back until closing the gap again by sweeping the Mets at Shea. Still, I didn't think the Phils could catch them, but here it is, 3 games to go and a chance to snag the division.

Barring alien abduction and disappearance, Jimmy Rollins will be setting the single season record for at bats tonight most likely. He's at 704, one behind Willie Wilson's record of 705 back in, wait for it, wait for it...
