Yeah, the Giants are pretty bad. They're worst in the majors by 11 games. They have the same problem we do. Their pitching staff is ranked in the bottom 2 in the NL in most categories. There could be some help on the way, however, as they have the 5th best minor league system. If you ever want any more updates on the Giants, let me know. It's going to be tough for Bonds to break the record this season, since he's out until probably September.

INJURY NEWS

Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens suffered a bruised wrist while wind-surfing. He’s expected to miss 2 weeks.

Game #118 – Kansas City (J. Gobble 4-10, 5.31 ERA) at Detroit (K. Rogers 2-1, 4.13 ERA)
Kansas City 1
Detroit 5
W: K. Rogers (3-1) L: J. Gobble (4-11) S: T. Jones (27)

We didn’t get too many chances. We scored our lone run in the 3rd. They tied it in the 5th and put together a big 4-run inning in the 6th to end the scoring. It was a pretty uneventful game, to be honest. Kenny Rogers went 8.1 innings and gave up 1 run on 8 hits and a walk and struck out 4.

WEEKLY THOUGHTS
Another winning week, going 4-2. The past couple of weeks have been pretty good ones. Our pitching still isn’t where I’d like it to be, but I think Greinke is starting to come around, Hamels is a great addition, and I think Rogers will help form a good, young top 3 for the next couple of years. I know I keep saying something along those lines, but I need to keep reminding myself of that fact as I finish this season.

In transaction news, we removed Omaha center fielder Jorge Padilla from the 40-man roster to make room for Wichita catcher Nick Hundley.

AL Player of the Week
3B Andy Marte (TEX) .458, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 5 R

NL Player of the Week
C Michael Barrett (CHN) .455, 4 HR, 7 RBI, 6 R

Hey! Back to back winning weeks. Can we get three in a row?

As far as Buck goes, you have to do what you feel is best for the Royals, as I am doing with my own version of the 2007 season (not posted), but I can certainly understand why he's not getting a whole lot of PT.

It's good to see Greinke put some solid innings together, but I put that loss on the manager. Bell should've known when to give Zack the hook, and it shouldn't have been as late as it was.

Looks like Hamels is going to be the top of the rotation starter and with Rogers and Greinke, you could have the Royals version of Atlanta's Young Guns, provided Zack can get himself righted.

KUTGW, Dauis!

I see that the Jays are junk in your league as well. What I've found suprising is that Halladay is medicore, and Mr. Mediocore, Josh Towers seems to be doing well.

Game #120 – Kansas City (Z. Greinke 4-16, 6.38 ERA) at Minnesota (J. Santana 18-5, 2.47 ERA)

Kansas City 5
Minnesota 4
W: B. Evert (6-3) L: J. Santana (18-6) S: J. Broxton (5)
HR – KC: D. Ross 2 (22)

Greinke ran into trouble about halfway through the game again. We took a 1-0 lead in the 3rd off Ross’s first homer of the game. Minnesota tied it in the 5th, then Greinke allowed 3 in the 6th to put us in a 4-1 hole against Johan. Santana was feeling generous, though, and gave up 4 runs in the 8th, and we held on for the 5-4 win. David Ross went 2-4 with 2 home runs, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBIs.

If you look at some of the regular and peripheral stats, Hallady is the second best on the staff besides Towers. Just going by VORP, Towers is leading at 24, and Halladay is at 22.3. What's killing them is their lineup. Gregg Zaun is probably the best hitter, hitting .261 with 11 home runs and 43 RBIs. They're just not hitting the ball at all. Their team batting average is .249.

Game #121 – Kansas City (C. Hamels 4-3, 3.82 ERA) at Minnesota (C. Silva 14-8, 2.85 ERA)

Kansas City 3
Minnesota 2
W: C. Hamels (5-3) L: C. Silva (14-9) S: J. Broxton (6)
HR – MIN: J. Lane (19)

Another good start by Hamels. He went 8 innings, gave up 1 run on 6 hits and 4 walks, and struck out 8. He never got in a whole lot of trouble, and the 1 run he gave up was just a mistake that got hit out of the park. Broxton came in for the 9th and allowed a leadoff double by Lane, and allowed him to score. That made things interesting, but he pitched around it and got the save.

Corey Koskie agreed to an extension with the Dodgers for 3 years and $40.44 million. Good for him. We got a great return for him.

Game #123 – Kansas City (J. Gobble 4-11, 5.44 ERA) at Minnesota (R. Ortiz 3-5, 4.65 ERA)

Kansas City 7
Minnesota 8
W: R. Ortiz (4-5) L: J. Gobble (4-12) S: D. Reyes (2)
HR – KC: B. Stavinsky (1) MIN: J. Lane (20), T. Hunter (18)

Minnesota came out and let us know right away we weren’t leaving with a sweep. They knocked Gobble around for 5 runs in the first, and he had to be pulled after only getting one out. The Twins tacked on 2 more in the 3rd and their last in the 5th to put us down 8-0. I thought the guys would pack it in and be in a hurry to get to the airport. However, we put together a little rally of our own. We scored 5 in the 8th to pull within 3. Stavinsky led off the 9th with a home run. Gload grounded out to short. Gathright took an 0-2 pitch down the first-base line for a double, and advanced to third on a groundout by Emil Brown. Garciaparra hit a double of his own to score Gathright, pull us within one, and put the tying run in scoring position with Teahen coming up. However, Teahen struck out swinging to end the game.

Wow. What a performance by our pitching staff. The only 2 runs we allowed were in the 5th inning. Our staff only gave up 4 hits the entire game. Mark Rogers led the way, going 7 innings, giving up the 2 runs on 4 hits and 5 walks, and striking out 5. Evert, Broxton, and Stemle combined to pitch 6 innings of hitless ball.

WEEKLY THOUGHTS
We had a really good week, going 5-2. That makes 3 winning weeks in a row. We still probably won’t make it to .500, as we’d have to go 25-12 the rest of the season to do that, but I like the direction we’re headed.

In transaction news, we replaced Omaha starter Luke Hudson on the 40-man with Omaha reliever Sammy Lemond.

AL Player of the Week

OF Manny Ramirez (BOS) .524, 4 HR, 12 RBI, 9 R, 7 BB, .655 OBP

NL Player of the Week
1B Albert Pujols (STL) .435, 4 HR, 6 RBI, 8 R

Game #126 – Oakland (E. Loaiza 9-10, 4.29 ERA) at Kansas City (C. Hamels 5-3, 3.57 ERA)

Oakland 7
Kansas City 6
W: J. Duchscherer (5-5) L: J. Broxton (1-2) S: H. Street (29)
HR – OAK: J. Gomes (20), M. Bradley (17) KC: W. Betemit 2 (20), M. Teahen (23)

Broxton did it again. We turned a 4-2 deficit into a 6-4 lead going into the 9th. Broxton started off the 9th looking like it was going to be a breeze to finish the game off, striking out Chavez and Ellis to start the inning. However, back-to-back walks to Barton and Johnson set the stage for Milton Bradley to break the hearts of the 17,291 in attendance.

Sorry Loeffle. I totally missed this post.

Right now the Brewers are 64-60, third place in the division and 8 games behind the Cubs, and 4 games behind the Phillies for the Wild Card. Their .265 batting average is 3rd in the NL, and their 4.02 ERA is 4th in the NL.

Pitching-wise they are being led by Sheets and Suppan. Sheets is 16-6 with a 3.14 ERA, 19 walks, and 185 strikeouts. I would say he is the second best pitcher in the NL behind Randy Johnson right now. Suppan seems to be suffering from a little bit of bad luck, as he is only 9-11 with a 3.23 ERA, 50 walks, and 115 strikeouts. They traded Dave Bush early in the year, but traded for Jake Westbrook to replace him.

As for the lineup, Bill Hall is the leading hitter. He's hitting .273 with 30 doubles, 1 triple, and 30 home runs, and 93 RBIs.

Their farm system is middle of the pack right now, ranked 14th. Their top prospect is their second round pick from this year's draft, center fielder Drew Stubbs. He's moved up quickly, already in AAA. He's hitting .353 there in his first 5 games. I wouldn't be surprised to see him compete for a major league roster spot next season.

Anything else you wanna know, just ask.
