he wont be back. Why push it for this team unless they somehow start hitting and pitching and defense and make a run for it. But I don't think he will be back, at least this season.

Well, if Crede can play again this year, I see no reason for the Sox to non-tender him, since he's still arbitration-eligible. If he recovers his form, he'll be valuable to us next year either in a playoff run or as a trading chip.

At the moment, though, his trade value is next to nothing.

Really, personnel moves depend more on our situation closer to the deadline. The Sox look awful, but they're certainly far from mathematically eliminated. In theory, they could go on a tear.

If they're still out of it by the deadline, players I wouldn't mind seeing dealt:

1) Dye. Hopefully, he'll heat up and bring his trade value back closer to where it should be.

2) Contreras. Quick, before he looks any older!

3) Thome. Now this is something I hadn't heard mentioned previously, but he's a quality hitter who could help a team in the hunt, and he probably has the highest trade value amongst Sox hitters.

I think the Sox should make signing Buehrle a priority. Maybe not to go so crazy as to give him Barry Zito money, though.

I don't think this will end his career with the Sox. He will need to come back next year and make himself worth something for free agency. I'm sure the Sox will keep him around unless Fields starts hitting the crap out of the ball this year and they have no room for one of them.

As for personnel/player moves, I would like to see two things done:

1. Fire Greg Walker. I know people keep saying that won't fix the issue, but I feel that it eventually will. The Sox have been very one-dimensional with him as hitting coach and I would like to see a coach that actually sported a good average while playing.

2. Make a move to get a good hitter, not a power hitter. We have too many of those and I would like to see a player that can get on base consistently. I don't care who they are or where they play, just someone that can actually hit .300.

Agreed. I think somewhere in the 12 million per year range is worth it for a pitcher like Buehrle. Hopefully they can get this done.

Buehrle's agent would be mighty stupid to settle for that amount after what happened in the past offseason with FA pitchers, Gil Meche comes to mind. I don't believe a player with Buehrle's record of performance would stand for that nonsense either.

I totally agree with your statement, but I wouldn't pay much more than that if I was Kenny Williams. I hope that Buehrle is willing to stay for less money similar to Konerko. Will it happen? Probably not, but one can hope.

If I were a Sox fan, I'd probably feel the same way. He's a great pitcher. 28 years old and already has 100 wins.

IIRC, it was the Orioles and Angels that made serious offers to Buehrle, and the high offer was only something like $500k a year more than what Konerko eventually took from the Sox.

In a world where Gil Meche gets $11 million a year, Buehrle will command $16-$17 a year easily.

Rowand hits a grand slam today against the Sox to give the Philies a very comfortable lead Oh, the misery...

What happened about this time last year to cause such a massive karmic debt?

Both teams suck offensively. The Dodgers offense is ranked 23rd best in MLB by equivalent average. The White Sox are dead last.

Somebody remind me why Mark Connor has a job?

Shuffling the deck.

MacDougal gets recalled from Charlotte, Bret Prinz gets DFA'd.

Same old, same old.

I was genuinely surprised that the Sox even got one run in the first inning when they had the bases loaded with one out.

This may be the worst White Sox team I've ever seen.

This season is uglier than the crowd at an Ani DiFranco concert.

So, with all the trade rumors circulating around Dye, Buehrle, et al:

The Sox have sent Aaron Cunningham to Arizona for Danny Richar. I assume that this is an effort at beefing up the alarmingly thin middle infield prospects the Sox have (or don't have, really).

Wow, the Sox won.

BY FIVE

Ryan Bukvich pitched a 1-2-3 inning! Anybody rememer the last time a reliever not named Jenks threw a 1-2-3 inning?

Josh Fields has been looking pretty good, he crushed a 2-run bomb to deep to left, and has 4 hits over his past 2 games. Unfortunately, he was unable to make a play at thrid that the scorers generously credited as a hit, but it didn't wind up hurting them for a change.

I was glad to see Fields' day at the plate. I really want him to succeed. I do not want to see another highly touted prospect fail a la Joe Borchard Go Sox and Go Josh!

Back to the same old same old. Finally score some runs, lose anyways because Javier Vazquez stinks. Am I alone in thinking the Sox should try to deal him?

I hope Fields pans out so we can get rid of Crede... and has Vazquez really been that bad? I get almost no White Sox games here (damn Brewers and Cubs market ) so I haven't been able to follow the team as closely as I'd like.
