But it appeared at Major League level straight away - hasn't worked up through the farm system (heads off to find a Scranton Wilkes-Barre thread or even a Tampa Yankees thread) !
Good to see the hitting game switch from NYY to BOS last night |

Mmmm... Pinstriped Kilts - that's an image to give nightmares. And if they stuck to the rules about what Scotsmen wear, the pitcher would be giving a batter on 2nd a sight to remember every pitch.
You wouldn't want to slide feet first either

I forgot to add that Alex Rodriguez had 21 RBI in those nine games.

The bullpen almost gave that one away. Mo was one mo' hit away from letting the Mets come all the way back.
Of course, the obligatory run Farnsworth gave up in the eighth did not help either. Proctor . . . can I start trusting him again???? |

Speaking of A-Rod, I must get something off my chest. I'll be the first to admit, I never wanted A-Rod. I couldn't understand when they traded a guy like Soriano, an up and coming star, for A-Rod. Sure, A-Rod was the best player in the game at the time(And still is), but did he really have that much on Soriano? Sure, he was better, but was he that much better that the trade was worth it?
Then for three years I watched A-Rod and his failed attempt at clutch hit after clutch hit. It seemed when they needed him most, he never showed. And heck, just because he's on fire doesn't mean he'll show up in October, but lets not even talk about that. In previous years he seemed as if he'd hit a 3 run HR, when the Yankes were up 6-0 or down 9-2. Just never when they needed it. As a matter of fact, I use to compare him to Ortiz on Boston. I said, do you know how often Ortiz comes through for the Red Sox? Well, that's how often A-Rod didn't. Fast Forward and here we are in 2007. This is a totally different ball player, not your mama's A-Rod(Remember, she wrote a note excusing his poor performance in 2005). This is a guy who brings excitement to each at bat, a guy who gets up there and no matter what else is going on, it doens't matter. He's focused, he's seeing the ball and damn it I can't help but look forward to each at bat and root for him(I've always rooted for him as a Yankee, don't get me wrong). However, I was tired of him and just didn't see what was so special. Anyway, I feel much different this year. And while I'm not saying i'm a band wagon fan of his. It's just different. Now that I look back at this post, I really don't know what its point was, but damn A-Rod is fun to watch. Yanks 4 - Muts 0

It'll be nice seeing A-Rod dominate next year in a Red Sox uniform ;-)

I see your point. For some reason, maybe as simple as some success in the clutch for a change, his confidence is back and he is producing. It's like a chicken or egg thing; neither can come first, confidence and production, but they work together. Right now he's doing well because one is feeding the other.
However, he is still the same person so he is still susceptible to the same psychological demons that bedeviled him in the past. I still think he is capable of going into a prolonged slump should he fail in a few crucial situations and get booed again. Notice that his great streaks in April and June have come when the season was just beginning or when the season appeared to be lost. No pressure? |

I stand by what I said, this was not the A-Rod that was on the Yanks for the past 3 seasons.

However, your ideas are basically exactly what the stereotypical Yankee fan thinks.

... I watch nearly every game, and was amazed how someone can put up those stats, at the same time it seemed like he was not producing. And if I truly felt that way because it was A-Rod, I would feel that same way this year.

Exactly. Sorry bout ya thomamon but you are pretty much the stereotypical yankees fan. He was still good enough to win an MVP as a Yankee.
