It was nice to see Pettitte FINALLY get some run support. The guy has been lights out this year and never seems to get enough support to get the W.
Yeah, something was telling me the sox are going to need ALL of that what was once 14.5 game lead.

I guess the beauty of that from a sox fan's perspective is that the sox can afford to stumble (even while the Yanks rip off 9+ games in a row) and still be up by 7.5 games.

There was no way I thought the yanks would remain near the cellar the whole season.....its going to be interesting

I didn't think they would be near the cellar. I also never thought they would be able to roll off 9 straight. I also never thought the Sox would stumble this badly. It's good to see because there's nothing like a close race to the finish line. That's beginning to shape up now

Yes, I'm not a true baseball fan. I'm also very ignorant when it comes to baseball and know much less than you.

"True Yankee" is an opinion. I equate it to the "best player of all time" argument. I'm entitled to my opinion and to think of someone as a "true Yankee". You're entitled to think it's stupid. We are each equally as right or wrong depending on how you want to look at it.

Can we just drop this argument now? It's circular and it's spiraling to a level that I really don't want to see this thread to go to.

Thanks

To you NY area folks:

My friend just pointed out to me that if the Yankees sweep the Mets this weekend (not that I am looking for that because the Mets are too good to keep playing that badly), they will have the same W/L record 36-31.

A couple of weeks ago, who would have thought that might happen? Just how crazy is this game of baseball, anyway?

WOW! 2 weeks ago, the Mets were the toast of the town, and the Yanks took over the "Muts" title from them. Gotta love this game

People are not denying how one can define True Yankee though, as opposed to people arguing over what's the definition of best players. The argument here is that having such a label is meaningless and counterproductive. Players are not working toward this goal, and being able to be labeled a True Yankee wouldn't really help the team or the player.

It's more on the level of "player with largest penis" than "best player of all time". Other than making the small penis players feel bad, what exactly is the label for?

Sorry skip, but I'm not in the mood for an argument today. We're just gonna have to agree to disagree here and I still call for an end to this circular argument. It's not productive and things were getting way too heated.

Thanks

Haha well just to be clear, I wasn't ready to start arguing the merits of the terminology (that discussion was done as far as I was concerned - I couldn't really care less) as much as pointing out the asinine logic by Thomamon in his statement.

Yankees have outscored their opponents 67-24 during the nine game win streak. New York is only 3.5 games out in the Wild Card race.

It's on!

Hold that thought.....Roger is pitching tonight.

I've always been amazed by how RIDICULOUSLY optimistic the Yankee announcers are at putting a spin on everything. Roger, pitching a masterpiece tonight, is still losing 2-0 in the 6th inning and the Yankee pbp notes "well, Roger's used to this sort of thing, he had no run support in Houston."
