Not to mention the Red Sox haven't won a game in which they are losing at the end of the bottom inning and you have yourself a RACE!

If you guys liked Wallace Matthews yesterday, you will get a kick out of him today with his "Say goodbye to A-Rod": http://www.newsday.com/sports/ny-spw...orts-headlines You have to read a while to realize that he's calling for the Yanks to let him go at the end of 2007. Read that as, "Don't offer A-Rod a mint to stay because he is going to opt out of his contract in order to cash in on this great season that he is having, and since we have not won anything with him around that's proof we don't need him, so good riddance, let's spend the money on someone else." That is the essence, I think. BTW, don't let the reference to "Charlie Boggs" throw you; he's referring to Charlie Hayes and Wade Boggs sharing 3B in 1996. That had me going to B-R to check on Boggs' middle name or nickname - the "two headed monster" reference went over my head. Last edited by 1998 Yankees; 06-12-2007 at 01:40 PM. |

Babe Ruth and Alex Rodriguez each won zero World Series rings in their first three years with the Yankees. Wallace Matthews is the essence of non-thinking.

.500
I had forgotten how good that could feel, especially after looking up at it for a while. 100 games to go. One game at a time, though. After tonight, will we be .492 or .508? The darned Twins had to win last night, huh? If not, the Yankees would be the ONLY .500 team in Major League Baseball at this moment. How about that?

That, of course, doesn't say much overall, but I'm in a generous mood

Here's an interesting snippet from the Probable Pitchers list on MLB.com
This is for Chien-Mien Wang... Quote:

Something is lacking from that statement, maybe the first inning for example or something like that because I could swear I remember him giving up an earned run in the first inning.

Maybe they meant 35 innings?

Alex hits another one. Just thought I mention that because without ARod the Yankees wouldn't be over .500 right now.

However, a lot has to happen for the Yankees to make the postseason and Alex could have three terrible months to end the season. |

I never count the Yankees out until they are 10 back with 9 to play.

I think the point is that "True Yankee" is a dumb media creation.
