3 series played. 3 series won. That's what you gotta do. Good stuff. Sabathia looks fantastic again this year. Seems like ever since he got back from his injury last year, the ace light finally went on.

Cleveland won 2-1. The White Sox managed to get six hits while the Tribe got only a leadoff double from Grady Sizemore, but still they won.

Sabathia is back. Glad I picked him up in our fantasy baseball.

It's very likely Victor will be in at DH on Tuesday. He could have played today, but with the cold weather they decided to keep him out of today's game.

There's little doubt that 2006 was his best season. Sabathia is a model of consistency. Never had anything less than a good season in six years. He's made it to 26 without blowing his arm out, and with 1178 innings and 83 wins under the belt, so, that it looks like he's got a good chance to be be one of those fellas who pitches to forty with a ticket to Cooperstown waiting at the exit.

What is up with Josh Barfield?? He seems so overmatched out there. I mean people go in slumps and they hit a lot of weak groundballs or lazy flys, but this guy is just swinging and missing at pitches that aren't even that great.

I know its early but his strikeout rate is up, his walk rate is down. This clearly shows that its more than just being unlucky. I am worried about him more than I am Marte. Did I mention he already has 2 errors and he just had 9 all of last year?

This could just be another case of the National League being far inferior to the American League in total talent level. Hopefully he will have the skills to adjust to the better pitching.....

It is a delight to follow this team this year.

Unlike last year, our pythagorean record is far below our actual record--luck, and, despite Borowski's blow-out against the Yankees, a better bullpen this year. (Which is also luck I guess.)

But I like this group of players. They seem to play well together. Have fun, etc.

Good things so far this season:

The offense has been putting a lot of crooked numbers up and they haven't even really got going. With the exception of his GWRBI last night, Sizemore has been pretty cold, although he's still getting on base, which is his job. Hafner hasn't quite got it going at home, Blake has been pathetic and Barfield hasn't gotten his timing down until the last week. When all things click on this offense, look out.

The starting pitching has been great, as expected. It was nice to see Carmona come in and pitch well in place of Lee. Last night, Lee was inconsistent, as one might expect in his first start of the season. But I saw times in the game where he was locked in. That's a good sign.

Bullpen has been vastly improved, although you didn't have to do much to improve it from last year. Borowski has been pretty good in the close save opportunities. He seems to lose a little focus when it's a 3 run cushion or he comes out in a non save situation.

Heart. This team has shown me something that was lacking a bit last year. Heart. Fire, as well. It was nice to see Delluci get right in Phillips' face last night after he started jawing at Barfield after the collision at home plate. It was nice to see Delluci come out the next inning and make a great diving catch, then double in his next at bat and score easily on a hit a moment later. The heart this team shows when they get behind is great. They didn't worry about the early 4-0 deficit last night. They knew they would get it back.

Okay, now the cons:

Defense. Granted every team has been a bit off defensively this year so far, and weather has a lot to do with it. But so far, Marte was awful at third and Peralta is a swinging door at short. I do feel bad for him, after taking over for Omar Vizquel, even an average SS would look well below average in comparison. Last night he booted two routine balls in the same inning. Good thing his bat has woken back up.

Casey Blake. I like Casey and I hope he pulls out of his slump, but if not, something needs to be done. When Marte comes back, should they decide to give him 3rd base back, and I really hope they don't at this point (Blake is a pretty good defensive 3rd baseman, even if he isn't hitting), I would like to see them bring up one of our young outfielders at Buffalo to play right for an extended look.

Eric Wedge. I still don't think Eric Wedge is a manager that's going to take you to the World Series. He was great in developing the young players the last few years, but I think we need somebody else to get to the next level. I hope Wedge proves me wrong this year.
