looking at the downloads for WBM there is a patch for real names, with a blurb saying it changes all fake names into real ones, so i am assuming it does have real pro players?

I played around with the game last night and I'd wait until there's a few more people playing. I had the original WBM (World Basketball manager) back in 2003 when it first appeared on the scene. Even though I thought it was better than other text base bball games it just never evolved!! I'd be gutted to buy this game again, when basically all they have done is added the "2007". Stay away for now but I'd keep checking back as it has lots of potential.

I've also played around with Wolverines effort, seems pretty good but it only came out a few months ago so there's still lots of bugs.

I just downloaded the demo from this site. It's a 37+ megabyte file. I haven't installed yet but the download went smoothly enough. Hope this works for you.

LOL.

I thought it was my pc at first!! Believe it or not they have speeded it up for this years version!!!

I'm seriously considering getting DDS Pro Basketball from www.wolverinestudios.com

Its looking really good now the mods are starting to come through and it looks easy enough to mod yourself! Its the price that is putting me off!

I downloaded that demo and it looks alot better, although after the season starts I haven't figured out how to sim several days all at once, I can only do 1 day at a time for some reason..that might be because its the demo version also

There's a PDA/desk calendar on your desk. You can select how much you want to sim from there(all season, a day, a week, to playoffs, to All-Star Break, etc.).

Basketball Sims

Is DDS worth it?

Does anyone still have TPB 2005? Do you still play it? I'm just wondering because I have joined a Philippine basketball league which uses TPB 2005.

Thanks.

There's a new patch supposedly on the way for DDS:BB, so... maybe. Right now it's just too buggy for me. I was all hot on adding lots of offensive sets to the game so that people could tailor teams to play exactly how they want, but:

a. Gary and co. were being a bit too coy with the game mechanics for me. I didn't need to know what, exactly, happens when you call a play for the 5th time in a game compared to the 6th time, etc. I just wanted to know if it was feasibly possible to do nothing but call plays from your 10-play list without turning your team into the 1993 Mavericks. Even here, I could have playtested it myself, except that:

b. The players were doing really weird things in many of the plays I drew up, including running off the court until they were passed to. Others said that some of these plays weren't working at all on their systems. This led me to believe that the play diagramming feature wasn't heavily thought-out. Since it's rather frustrating to even devote a couple hours to something like that, only to find that your work was essentially useless, I haven't really gone back to the game since.

Anyway, given the gold standard of OOTP, DDS:BB is not there. It's still crash-prone and many aspects of the game are too clunky to mess with. That being said, it's still by default the best basketball sim out there. I'd give the trial a good run-through before you buy it, perhaps also waiting for the 1.4 patch.

re

DDS is a very solid game and very immersive, unfortunately for me, once i get good and submersed, the game seems to crash. Long story short it had all the potential but due to unacceptable amounts of crashes, i havent played it at all in months.

In terms of overcalling plays - the plays become less prone to work as you drew them up with each additional use of them. So if you call a play two or three times over the course of the game it's likely to be executed as you drew it up. But every time you call it the chances increase that the other team knows what you are doing and will stop the play from happening as drawn up.

In terms of errors with the plays I wasn't aware of that issue so if you posted it on our forums I apologize for missing it but if you wanted to send me some of the plays in question I could try to figure out what is the issue.

And this morning we put up the 1.4 patch so hopefully that takes care of the remaining issues but if other things popup we'll continue to release patches if necessary.

Excellent news about the patch I was still debating which of your ball games to get but I have to say I was leaning more towards TCB but now I'm back at square one!! If only I had the money to buy both!!

The plays have already been posted to your forum and others complained about that in there. IIRC I made a post about them a couple months ago as well. That's also why I stopped making playsets after 3 or so of them... it got to be too frustrating that they weren't even working right in the playbook, let alone the game...

If the new patch fixes this, I'll be happy to get back into drawing up playsets.

Does DDS PB interface with the College Game...

Can you draft graduating classes from TCB into DDS?
