For me, it would not necessarily be new features, but old features we used to have that are either gone or "different" now.

1. A career leaderboard page (like the one in 6.5) showing the top 20 in each category so you can follow your player up that leaderboard. I'm just not a fan of the one in the league history page. I like to see those categories side-by-side, and not just the leader in a list of categories.

2. A streaks leaderboard page in the league statistics. Even if it was it's own tab (i.e. batting leaders, pitching leaders, fielding leaders, streaks).
2a. Have the ability to choose which categories are displayed on the leaderboard pages. It would be same functionality as the custom views on your team roster page, for example.

3. Bring back the arrows! On the transaction page, a red down arrow if the selected scout feels the player should be demoted, or a green up arrow if the scout feels he should be promoted.

Quick Sim Option like in NHL Eastside Hockey Manager for all leagues in this game and you would go to Detail Level to change it.
Olympics and so on on Tournments out their for Baseball
In the News why this team Relocated or why this city getes a Expansion team
Combined this game with maybe MVP College Baseball for the PC then this game can have live Play by Play
Real Winter Ball happening meaning with Teams sending people to the teams and also each year the teams would have different Personal

These are small issues, I think:

- Display brief contract status information on the front page of each player, even if it's just the current year's salary. It's not a big deal, but I sometimes find it annoying to have to make that one extra click on the contract tab to find out a player's salary. There seems to be plenty of room under the health status and morale section of the players' pages for a brief contract status section.

- In the trades screen, or transactions screen for that matter, it would be nice to be able to view more than just stats and ratings. I think it would be nice to sort players by their salary (especially in the trades screen), in case I want to try to dump salary.

Again, it's not a big deal; I can still access all of the information I ever need (and then some!). I think these upgrades would make the game a little quicker to use (a few clicks here and there add up fast!).

Thanks.

Computer Manager Profiles

Larry Anderson made the following suggestion in the beta forums. I hope it's OK to quote the paragraph here. (Great idea, Larry!)

Manager profiles. I think this option would vault OOTP above the other guys. With the current game, basically the computer managers are all the same. You can go into each and set different ways that they do thing, but I would rather see it as a profile. For instance, a manager that is more the style of Billy Martin or Earl Weaver, etc. Basically, it would be a way to go into a team manager's profile and SAVE AS. We could modify the managers profile and save it. We could then share the profiles with each other.

Didn't get to go through all posts but...

Don't know how involved this would be, but how about an undo command...it bit me in my first game.

While attempting a double switch I accidently dropped my pitcher into the wrong spot in the batting order (2nd instead of 8th). This was at the end of a spring training game and the postion player I was using was my last available. So now my pitcher is batting 2nd and would be the 4th hitter in the next inning. I thought no big deal since I was up by one with my stud closer on the mound in the 9th...who with two outs proceded to walk one pinch hitter and then gave up a go-ahead 2-run home run to another!!! AAAARRRGGG!
So now I am batting in the bottom of the 9th and with two outs my leadoff hitter doubles and up comes the new pitcher's spot! I had only 2 pitchers left and so I used the best hitter to pinch-hit for the closer. After he struck out the idea for an undo came to me...

Okay, so I lost my first game thanks to a stupid mistake...stop laughing!

But seriously, undo might have changed the outcome (I mean after all, this closer was looking like he might be the real deal, now he is a Rookie Leaguer for life, or until I trade him for a bus and a bag of balls).

I agree...an "undo" button in the substitutions screen so when my finger slips or a drag-and-drop someone to the wrong spot by mistake, I can undo the change and do what I intended to do.

Obviously it should be disabled once you leave that screen, but while you are in that screen itself, you should be a little latitidue by the UI to correct mistakes.

Sorry, just a follow-up: is it really true that managers don't differ at all? If I go from one team to another in my solo league, I find those strategy sliders (you know, the ones describing whyat to do for different leads at different times in the game) set to different positions for different teams. To that extent, therefore, managers do differ.
Or am I wrong here? If so, then I would certainly endorse the suggestion!

Here's a second suggestion, but more likely suitable for the next release instead of a patch: it is surprising to me that it is still not possible to see in-game how the defense is set up for a particular batter. There's obviously no "fog-of-war" reason why I should not be able to see whether the infield is playing in, whether my runner at second is being held closely, and so forth. And yet, the game has never permitted me to know that, as far as I can remember. . . .
(Sorry if this was posted before. I didn't check back through the entire thread)

Not to get too complex, but since we have weather in the game, why not include a simple weather forecast somewhere, in the schedule or something.
Just a week at or so.
doesn't need to be "realistic" (no fronts moving across the nation, etc), but it would be a cool addition to have.

I haven't read through all the posts, so if this has already been mentioned, consider this my "seconding."

One thing that would make me very happy would be for the game engine to handle historical sims starting in 1871.

That would be a lot of fun.

My guess is that would be something very difficult to program. But would be an excellent feature.

I would like to see the option of having more detailed ratings for your own players and less detail for opposing players. This would model that IRL Managers and GMs know more about their own players' abilities and less for those playing on other teams. I would think this could be easily implemented. For example, ratings on your own players could use a 1-100 system and opponents could be rated on a 1-20 scale.

I don't remember if I voted in this yet, but, at any rate I'd like to see the TRADE AI improved. I'm still finding the AI will give up 10 players for 1 all to easily and even include 1st and 2nd round draft picks too easily. I play on hard trade settings and the only thing the harder settings do is just reduce the amount of "quality" players I can get and the level of draft picks.

It doesn't really change it's stupidity of relinquishing every good average minor leaguer it has of any level below Major League. I have the AI highly favor prospects and still I can get 4 and 5 star prospects in these silly trades and 10 players every trade as long as they are minors. Somethin ain't right here. This never happened in 6.5a. When I had highly favor prospects set for the AI in 6.5a you can bet your bottom dollar that the AI would cling to these players like nails on magnets. Now THIS AI just gives them away without regard to their quality if they are in the MINORS. Now, if they are in the Majors it's a different story, but, they should regard 4-5 star prospects no matter what level they play when they have outstanding abilities like they have been trading off to me.

The ability to hand control of your minor leagues over to your minor league coaches, but instruct them on playing time for certain players. I do not want to micro manage my minors, but want to make sure that my first round pick from last year is starting. Right now as soon as you hand control over to your minor league managers that player may or may not play. I want him to start even though his 27 year old "backup" has better ratings.

I have only played the demo, so I don't know if this is in or not, but it would be cool if there was some interesting fan fare for the team that win's it all.
