My OOTP downloads site (no bad news)

I recently severly upgraded my available webspace, but that requires me to move my website to a new server. My league is probably going to re-do the website.

but that leaves me with a question

what should i do with the downloads section of the website? I don't know if i should keep it something like it is, treat it like the step-child of the main site. or just spin it off completely into a new site of its own, maybe even a 6.5 community site if there is demand and a group to help admin.

i'm stumped, all have good and bad points... i could use some thoughts

I think that whatever would be the easiest for you would be the way to go. Whether or not it is evident or not, the downloads are appreciated.

I remember thinking before that I thought it would be better if it was by itself, but like Steve said, whatever's easiest for you is probably best. I doubt there's really a demand for, I guess, a mod-based off-shoot forum, but seeing as how they're so easy to put up, you could try it if you want and see how it goes. At least with it it'd be easier to add boards and stuff. If anything, you might want to put more functionality into the site like maybe allowing people to upload their own stuff and allowing others to leave comments or something, but that might be biting off more than you're willing to chew.

thanks for the input guys.

to be honest the decision to host the mod files with any more than server space was not completely pure. there was a marketing decision involved but between my ineptness or the fact that maybe wordpress was not the best choice (but it's what i had) as a platform to add the download section to the league website, the back-end of the website has become an unmanagable tangle of mess that i lack the skills to clean up. and adding anything other than a blog entry can be tedious. But my problem is my site generates a lot of traffic. the file server averages 10-11 downloads a day. much of that is not ootp related, logos, facepacks and stadiums. if i trace back the refering link they goto other game sites, there is a website that is doing something with stadium pics that is a big referer but best i can tell its a site that gathers info on old stadiums, and a number a fairly other random type websites?????

anyway, the intersting thing is they come for the downloads but end up looking through the main site, so I have a delema. i have a large group of people who use my site for a varity of reasons... and it was only designed as a simple league website.

frankly, i may be a in a bit over my head.

as for the fansite question... it was purely a question, i have been ill the last few months and have no clue what the state of things are.... so i asked, i have no need to add desert to my already filled plate.

my downloads site has moved, www.corporatebaseball.com is the new home. the old site will be gone on the 22nd so old bookmaks to the main download page will not work begining the 21st if i do this right

. I havn't made a new main downloads page yet. but there is a menu on the new site so finding them should still be fairly easy.

Thanks for the update.

I can't tell you how many times I have used the resources you host or referred them to someone who is looking for something you have.

Thanks again.
