Nope, it was a shark attack. Type of shark was not specified however.

Question, are these events actually happening in the game, or are people just having fun at this point?

If these events are actually happening I think we have an issue with realistic off season injuries.

Then again maybe I should wait until I actually get to sit donw and play the game before I comment. I downloaded this darn thing on Thursday, and have only gotten as far as an install because of school. Hopefully his week I might actually be able to play.

IRL didn't Steve Olin (Indians Pitcher I think) drown in an unfortunate fishing accident? Or was that a plane crash.... Man, am I that old now?

Yes. That's right. In spring training. And lest we forget that Aaron Boone lost a season to a pick-up basketball game....

Ojeda had two freak accidents. The one from above and I believe in 1989, before the start of the season, he was cutting his bushes and got a little too close to his fingers.

I'm not sure about the shark, but there are different injuries happening to players in my historical simulation:

- injured while angrily throwing his controller while playing a video game
- his son jumped on him from a couch while he was lying on the floor
- while shaking hands during a meet and greet

These are in game! I read the off- field injuries text file to make sure. Some awesome one in there.

The three were fishing/drinking when the boat that I think Tim Crews was driving smashed into an unlighted dock.

Off-field injuries

In my league, one team had a guy out for four days with a fractured finger after being robbed at gunpoint during the offseason.
