FaceGen and Retirement

I've seen this asked in the other FaceGen threads but haven't seen an answer. When a player retires what uniform does he wear? Does he wear the uniform of the team he last played for? Played most for? Or does he wear a generic uniform?

If he wears a specific team uniform does it remain dated to when he was on the team (i.e. if the team he retired from is in Detroit, but a fews years later the team moves to Wooster, will he still be in the Detroit uniform)?

For that matter, what does he wear when he's a free agent?

I had a few questions as well on Facegen & retirement. I think my post got buried in a seperate series of questions...probably because I asked them in a team logo thread, not the facegen thread. But I still havent been able to find any answers to them...so I'll see if this thread has a little more luck for me.

When, if at all, does Facegen stop aging the players?? Retirement?

What if they become a manager? Is there a different 'manager profile' or 'entity' which is treated and aged seperately? Do the 2 'entities' relate to each other?

What about a player that gets to the HoF as a player, but then become a manager? If seperate 'entities' exist for players who become managers, with no relation, is it possible I could have a HoF player, who becomes a HoF manager with 2 entries in the HoF?

Is any of this criteria selectable??

Maybe a shirt that says "Scott Boras or Bust!"?

Many players get made into personnel and no, I can tell you it doesn't stop when they retire (the first time, anyway). They definitely age past forty and into their 60s. Sim enough seasons and you *will* see that fresh, clean-shaven kid turn into a grizzled vet.

This is from 2006, but when you have a coach, scout, doctor, or manager who used to be a player, there's a link on the manager's card to his playing record.

OK, thanks Syd Thrift...I think I understand. So, regardless of HoF or any other lookup criteria...the same image will appear, but in the context of the player's current 'state' (meaning active, personnel, or retired).

So a player with a CEI at age 28, would presumably stop facegen aging at 28 when you view retired players...but if he were to become a manager, his facegen image would continue to age. Sound about right??

As a sidebar, falling back on Robert Coover's Universal Baseball Association, I think it would be a decent idea to have death notices as an option. It would round out a players career - and now with the ability to write our own news stories, it could become a significant part of the league's history.

Old ballplayers don't die, they just fade away.

How would the program know when to have a player die? Just have a separate injury.txt file for the retired people, with death as an "injury"? What about the poor souls who die "before their time," in the prime of their careers?

If you're going to do death, do it right
